You mean nothing to me
Anna Ternheim Lyrics

Let the lights go out and blow out the fuse
No strings attached between me and you
Amazing it seems
You mean nothing to me anymore
Acquainted as we are expected to be
When we grow up
You remind me of not letting go
Disabled by fear to be on my own
Having a twin as your lover
You'll never be free
Amazing it seems
You mean nothing to me anymore
Acquainted as we are expected to be
When we grow up, when we grow up
The first stanza of Anna Ternheim's You Mean Nothing To Me Anymore describes the disentangling of a relationship, with both parties being disconnected from each other. The singer wishes to shift the focus from the final moment of separation to the aftermath, telling the listeners that the time for hiding behind emotional ties is finished. They realize that there is no sentimentality or attachment that can keep them bound to each other, and so they prepare to end the connection once and for all. This is emphasized by the second line of the first stanza, where the singer emphasizes that they would willingly let go of the concept of 'us.'
The second stanza is where the singer reveals why the relationship failed. The notions that tie the two lovers together are still present even though no feelings linger. The singer confesses that they are paralyzed by the fear of isolation as well as the feeling of being incomplete without their partner. The reminiscent tone of this stanza highlights how the past still clings to the singer like a shadow. The lyrics mention how holding back and not letting go has kept them from being happy. The line, "having a twin as your lover" provides the imagery of the singer and their now ex-double living out a performance.

I discovered her from ALAN WAKE. She is amazing. Her music is really fresh. I haven't been as satisfied with a artist since Poets of the Fall.
