Christmas Time Is Here
Annie Haslam Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Happiness and cheer,
Fun for all that children
Call their favorite time of year.
Snowflakes in the air,
Carols everywhere,
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Sleigh bells in the air;
Beauty every where;
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there.
Christmas time is here;
We'll be drawing near;
Oh that we could always see
Such spirit through the year,
Such spirit through the year.
In Annie Haslam's song "Christmas Time Is Here," the lyrics evoke a warm and joyful atmosphere of the holiday season. The song paints a picture of happiness, cheer, and fun that fills the air during Christmas. It highlights the excitement felt by children, who consider it their favorite time of the year.
The first two lines set the tone, emphasizing the overall feeling of joy and contentment that comes with the holiday season. The mention of "fun for all that children call their favorite time of year" captures the childlike wonder and anticipation that is often associated with Christmas.
The next stanza brings forth the imagery of snowflakes, which represent the winter season and add a touch of magic to the air. The reference to carols being sung everywhere reflects the tradition of spreading joy through music during this festive time. The line "olden times and ancient rhymes" refers to the deep-rooted traditions and timeless stories associated with Christmas. Additionally, the mention of "love and dreams to share" emphasizes the spirit of togetherness and goodwill that permeates the holiday season.
The third stanza describes the sounds and sights of Christmas, with sleigh bells ringing in the air and beauty all around. The phrase "Yuletide by the fireside" brings to mind cozy gatherings with loved ones and the creation of joyful memories. These lines suggest that Christmas holds a special place in our hearts, and its essence should be cherished and revisited throughout the year.
The final stanza encapsulates the hope that the Christmas spirit and all that it encompasses—joy, love, and togetherness—could be carried and embodied throughout every season. It suggests that if we could maintain the same spirit of Christmas year-round, the world would be a better place.
