Anthrax's lineup has changed numerous times over their career, leaving Ian as the only constant member of the band. The band has had a revolving cast of singers and lead guitarists, including Neil Turbin, John Bush, Dan Spitz and Rob Caggiano. Since 2013, the band has consisted of Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Ian and Benante (who replaced one-time drummer Greg D'Angelo in 1983) are the only two members to appear on every album, while Bello has been a member of Anthrax since 1984, replacing original bassist Dan Lilker. After two stints in Anthrax, from 1984 to 1992 and again from 2005 to 2007, Belladonna returned to the band in 2010.

Hog Tied
Anthrax Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I get off on laughing
It's like the biggest orgasm
If you like I'll share it with you
When you give up yourself, you do it peacefully
Then you feel no plight and you think you're free
Give up yourself
There goes your chivalry
Hog tied to this life, I'm strapped up tight
And I won't be no slave
I can't wait to get you back
I need you back in my clutches
If it takes a thousand punches
By the end you'll be in stitches
Climb up if the noose ain't tied
It won't disturb you, it's here to serve you
Unlock the doubt, you'll find it's out, your Rosetta stone
Or you'll cut the line, and stifle time
Slash your wrist and kiss and kiss your crippled bones
The lyrics of Anthrax's song "Hog Tied" feature dark and disturbing themes surrounding power dynamics and domination. The opening lines suggest that the singer takes pleasure in laughing at others, equating it to a kind of orgasm. The lyrics then move into themes of surrender and submission, suggesting that those who give themselves up peacefully might feel free. The lyrics imply that the singer gains power and control over others by taking away their chivalry and throwing them down a rope. The singer then suggests that they themselves are "hog tied to this life" but will not be a slave. The lyrics take a more violent turn towards the end of the song, with the singer declaring their desire to have their victim back in their clutches, and suggesting that they will use violence to achieve it.
The lyrics of "Hog Tied" are complex and disturbing, and leave much to interpretation. Some might view the song as a critique of power dynamics and domination, particularly in the context of sexual relationships. Others might see the lyrics as a commentary on violence and control, and the ways in which individuals can become trapped in abusive relationships. Regardless of the interpretation, the dark and foreboding tone of the lyrics is clear throughout.
