After acrimonious fighting with that label and changing music times, the group broke off and has since released multiple independent albums to a devoted following of synthpop fans. They've also incorporated more industrial and techno influences. 1990's 'Peace' was notably followed up by 1993's 'Hope'.
As time went on, their music has received some critical acclaim. Their 2001 album 'Worth, which was recorded in 1991 but released later for legal reasons, is named by Allmusic as "one of the most beautifully dark synth-pop albums ever made." The band garnered attention for releasing a free EP entirely in MP3 format in 2003 as well.

I hide behind the blackened lies
That follow me
Throughout my history
The lives I've touched
The things I've done
The things I know will never come
Get washed away
And oh, when you feel stranded
Don't take for granted
This thing called life
And oh, when you feel stranded
Don't take for granted
This thing called life
Moving on was hard to do
To leave the things that I once knew
Childhood is the one thing
That won't come back to me
How can I sit idly by
Watching all these hours denied
My name is all I have
For an offering
And oh, when you feel stranded
Don't take for granted
This thing called life
And oh, when you feel stranded
Don't take for granted
This thing called life
Built up walls that crumbled down
People marched and stood their ground
I saw it happen
It was part of me
And oh, when you feel stranded
Don't take for granted
This thing called life
And oh, when you feel stranded
Don't take for granted
This thing called life
Oh, (don't take for granted)
Oh, (don't take for granted)
Oh, (don't take for granted)...
The lyrics of Anything Box's song Jubilation reflects the journey of an individual struggling to come to terms with their past and accepting the present. The opening lines, "Every time I close my eyes, I hide behind the blackened lies," set a melancholic tone, suggesting that the individual is disillusioned with the false realities that they have constructed for themselves. The next lines indicate that the individual's past follows them like a shadow, making it hard to move on: "That follow me throughout my history, The lives I've touched, The things I've done, The things I know will never come."
The individual is now adrift, struggling to make sense of their life. Childhood memories haunt them, and they cannot help but feel nostalgic about lost times. In the lines, "Moving on was hard to do, To leave the things that I once knew, Childhood is the one thing, That won't come back to me," the singer laments their inability to come to terms with their past.
However, as the song progresses, the singer turns their attention to the present and the fairness that life has to offer. The lines, "And oh, when you feel stranded, Don't take for granted, This thing called life," urge the listener to see the beauty in life and to cherish the moments they have. In the end, the singer seems to have found hope through the struggles and experiences of others, as seen in the lines, "Built up walls that crumbled down, People marched and stood their ground, I saw it happen, It was part of me."
Overall, Jubilation is a reflective song that urges the listener to learn to appreciate life and overcome past struggles to find hope and joy.
