Though she has been recording since she was 22, and had a few chart successes with Henri Rene's orchestra in the early 1950s, she is perhaps best known for her 1963 duet "Deep Purple" with her brother Antonino LoTempio (singing under the stage name Nino Tempo) that went to No.1 on the Billboard charts. The song won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Rock and Roll Recording. Subsequent recordings were much better received in Europe and Great Britain than in America, although the duo managed a Top 10 follow-up to "Deep Purple" with "Whispering" (the Paul Whiteman standard) and scored a moderate hit with "All Strung Out" in 1966.
She is also known for the 1959 song "Teach Me Tiger," which caused a minor uproar when it was released for its sexual suggestiveness.

April Stevens's Do It Again is a song about giving into temptation even though one knows it is wrong. The first verse indicates that the kiss should not have happened, and the singer should not have allowed it to occur. However, since it already occurred, the singer is requesting the kiss again because she desires it, regardless of the fact that it is morally incorrect. Even though she might refuse it at first, ultimately, she wants the singer to kiss her because she finds no satisfaction without it.
The second verse of the song continues to express the singer's desire to have the kiss even though society might frown on it. No one is near, and if the singer kisses her again, nobody will know. She then reveals that if the singer does kiss her again, she may cry, but it will be worth it for the pleasure of the kiss. Moreover, even though her mother warned her not to engage in such behavior, the song's protagonist wants the kiss with the same intensity. In the final verse, the singer knows that the kiss is temporary and that the singer will leave the next morning, but requests that he kisses her again before he leaves.
