Little Boy In The Grass
Aurora Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I will tell you the story about the little boy I found in the grass
(?) As he told me he could hear the children wanting to pass
Sounds all floating in the air
Still today we hear them
Finally we are over it
Finally we are over it
Let them run from the violence
The world is way too cold and bright for their eyes
Little boy runs beside them
(?) Take his hands and jump to the sky
Still today you hear them
Finally I am over it, over it oh
Finally I am over, over it oh
When will my healing come?
When will my healing come along?
Sinking like a snow
When will my healing come?
Finally I am over it, oh

Finally I am over it, oh
Finally I am, am...

Overall Meaning

The song "Little Boy in the Grass" by Aurora is a poignant piece that depicts scenes of innocence, violence, and healing. In the first verse, the singer narrates a story of how she found a little boy in the grass who could hear the children wanting to pass. This boy, with his sharp hearing, can perceive the sounds and feel the overwhelming violence in the world around him. The lyrics conjure up images of children playing, laughter, and joy, but juxtapose them with the sound of violence, which creates a sense of confusion and despair. The singer's use of the phrase "still today we hear them" affirms that the violence continues to exist and that it's still felt today.

However, as the song progresses, the singer offers hope and healing to the little boy and to her listeners. The repetition of the phrase "Finally we are over it" conveys a sense of relief and closure, as if the violence that once plagued them has been transcended. The singer implores us to allow the children to run from the violence, as the world is too cold and bright for their innocent eyes. She suggests that we should take the hands of the little boy and jump to the sky, which could mean that we should help him rise above the violence and pain he's experienced. The overall message of the song seems to be that although the world can be a violent and harsh place, hope and healing are possible.

Lyrics

I will tell you the story about the little boy I found in the grass
Tired, solace, he told me he could hear the children wanting to pass
Sounds of laughters in the air
Still today we hear them

Finally we are over it, oh
Finally we are over it

(Let them run)
Let them run from the violence
The world is way too cold and bright for their eyes
Little boy runs beside them
As they take his hands and jump to the sky
Still today you hear them

Finally I am over it, over it oh
Finally I am over, over it oh

When will my healing come? when will my healing come along?
Sinking like a stone, when will my healing come along?

Finally I am over it, oh
Finally I am over it, oh
Finally I am, am...

After listening to Aurora, i'm having a hard time listening to anyone else. It's more than just the music, it's the innocence of her, but yet i feel she has such a deep understanding of the human condition.

This song deals with the Utøya massacre in 2011, where her friend was killed at the age of 17. Aurora was 15 at this time.

"Today is the day. 22nd of July. It's been 4 years since you left us. Since all of you left us. How time flies, we even find ourselves forgetting for a moment, nearly moving on .. Not because we forget you, but because we remember to live. But know that I will always remember you, and everyone that went down with you. I will think of love, and send love to those who needs it this today. I hope no one crying alone. Rest in peace my friend. You are free now. " - AURORA
