Haha yup and as a Jamaican I can verift our parents played songs like this openly at barbeques believe it or not. Of course as kids we had no idea what the words actually meant lol
Many islander/Caribbean cultures hatred of homosexual lifestyles is a residual effect of slavery. Slave masters used to do a thing called 'Buck busting' where the masters would take the leader or strongest slave and basically have their way with him in front of the others to demoralize them. This history as well as religious texts referring to things like the fall of Sodom and Gammorah and civilizations which promote any sort of sexual 'deviancy' is a huge part of where they derive such negative sentiments toward such people.
Sidenote, Jamaican slave owners were known to be especially cruel. Look up Derby's Dose. All I'm gonna say about that.
Not defending homophobic language of course. But when you realize the culture has associated the lifestyle with all that other stuff, it does get easier to understand why.
