I don't like the biased way this movie portrayed Mrs. Brodrick. She was right about being pissed with his passive aggressive behavior. He was playing games with her and driving her insane..

He could have easily.bought her the ring she wanted. He withdrew his love because he was a screwing another women. He was gaslighting Mrs. B, he turned her kids against her, he quicky replaced Mrs. B with Linda in her own home. He divorced Mrs. B behind her back without trying to make the marriage work because he was already screwing Linda.

This movie misled so many viewers. It was made primarily by men who portray women as psyco's. The writers, directors, producers, etc. all played their.l part against Mrs. B.

After having watched the actual trial on CourtTV (it's archived), it's clear Meredith Baxter captured the true narcissistic sociopath that Betty Broderick was and still remains. Betty had many choices but she selfishly murdered two people without a caring what affect it would have on anyone else, especially her children. Betty broderick was abused in orison,prison, bad enough she was mentally torchered by her husband and new wife ,Betty broderick should be released it would be nice to start go fund me for her ,her drs misdiagnosed her ,the woman had conditions not known then called post partum depression she had pregnancies and gave birth to 4 children, the hormones and then the loneliness she felt no help with the children whatsoever this woman was doing everything for him as well whole he went out for drinks ,he dan hires a 21 year old Linda winds up marrying his hired hand at 28 and he 44 ,who does that dan broderick should have treated Betty with compassion and he should have gone with her to therapy to help him understand what it was that made Betty tick ,there's so much more I can say but my objective is this woman should be released ,dan and li n da weren't saints ,all the filings against her ,dan took the kids away from her I can relate the loneliness she felt ,she went mental ,she lost it ,I do believe she was going to end her own life however reacted in the worst of ways ,murder,is never ever the answer, forgiveness and understanding will bring Betty back to life ,shes of 73 now ,she can be monitored for the rest of her life confined near her children she wouldn't hurt anything or anyone ,hope gov of California can commute her sentence shes done her torcherous time .

@Hold my hand Betty's case is heartbreaking and looking from the outside its convenient to have words. I can't judge Betty's actions and decisions because I wouldn't understand her logic. I have followed this case and noticed she suffered a lot, it wasn't just the divorce it was a series of events that lead to the shootings, from paying her ex husband's law school, the insults and affair it was unbearable. Those shoes are very uncomfortable and hard to walk on. Im in no position to speak on her actions , I cannot speak on what I did not witness, do I understand her rage? ABSOLUTELY!

He should have stayed with Betty until the youngest child reached 18 and then bought her a house as part of the divorce settlement. I have seen the interview Betty Broderick did with Oprah in 1992. My heart went out to the Broderick children. The daughter(I believe her name was Lee) she looked so emotionally exhausted from the ordeal. The interview actually reinforced the fact that Meredith Baxter put research in Betty Broderick's behavior. I'm partial, loved her as Elise(sorry misspelled) Keaton from, "Family Ties."

Honestly, if my ex-husband was paying for everything like Dan was, I wouldn't give a damn who he dates or marries, as long as we co-parent and make decisions that are based on the needs of our kids. It does surprise me how badly they managed success. The marriage held firm during the long climb uphill. I think Dan saw her more as his parent, than as an equal partner. He went to medical school and then law school and she carried him through all of that. Like a child, he was extremely self-centered and felt he had accomplished all of it by himself. He expected to keep indulging himself with her complete support. Like a rocket escaping gravity, he did not need his booster section anymore. Like a child graduating school, he was leaving home to begin his whole new life. When his wife began to complain, it was easy for the other woman to step in with flattery and fawning adoration. That Christmas when he gave Betty the ring that he preferred sums it up rather well.

I like the actress a lot who plays Betty. I have seen this a few times before, but this time I really appreciate the way the innocence of her intentions come through. Betty is a remarkable and genuine person and I admire her for that, and that is not lost on Meredith Baxter, which I think is the mark of a very good actress. She looked for the essence of the person and played her to show that. BRAVO, for an excellent portrayal. Betty was trying to survive emotionally with a malignant narcissist tormenting her for possibly two decades. Thank you. It's always a wonder if a relationship with a narcissist DOES NOT end in death. I say the same thing. But, in my opinion, in her mind, she feels she gave him her good years, four children, sacrificed herself, her wants/needs, etc.
I have two children and the toll that took on my body was a lot. Of course, I wanted those children so I dealt with it. But, after my second I knew my body couldn't take another one. It's not just the pregnancy and the labor. It's the years of hard work you are willing to put into raising your children to raise them to be strong, independent, brilliant, etc. It can take a lot out of. Not to mention trying to keep your husband happy, and satisfied. Support him, make him feel like the king of his castle. Abuse isn't just physical. Some of the most horrific abuse is mental, financial. Killing them wasn't the solution by any means. But, I think he did owe her a lot more than she got. I don't know what the exact number is, but I would think if the proper payoff was there and if had respected her and the children a little more maybe Dan and Linda would still be alive. I believe Dan left because of Linda. If not the timeline is a huge coincidence. The oldest daughter wasn't much younger than Linda in my opinion. For everything, she did for him, I would think he could have held off for a few years.

"The system" is not set up to deal with extreme psychological abuse. People who have never been the victim of this type of abuse totally underestimate the damage it causes and the reactions it causes. It can push the person right over the edge. This in no way justifies her actions but may be an insight to why she snapped. Gas lighting, triangulation with new lover, withholding alimony, taking shared custody away, Knowing exactly how to trigger volatile reactions then shifting blame to them. I have a feeling there was a lot more going on in this story than we will ever know. I am an abuse survivor and I know that if I told people what I have gone through they think I am exaggerating. It was a clinical psychologist who informed me I was dealing with a sociopathic Narcissist. I chose to go no contact but my kids are grown up and I don't have to share custody as they are adults now. He was aloof and distant but that's how they probably survived so long. I felt lonely when my ex traveled for 13 years in the marines. I believe she’s still in prison to this very day. I read someplace that they 4 children are equally split on whether or not she should be paroled. I wouldn’t give a rat’s behind who my ex husband married as long as he sent my $15,000 alimony payments.

@yebogogo Betty is still ruining her life. Becuz she shows no remorse for her crime. But Dan did cut one of his girls off his last will w-o Anything from his estate? The kids seemed to get over the crime cuz it States a few of her own Children Want her to STAY IN PRISON for her crime?

@Amy Knudson what she did ruined her life & that of her children, and if you think there's any level of provocation that warrants that punishment to you kids then I doubt your humanity. I doubt divorce would have damaged the kids anywhere near the same level; many kids come from divorced families.

Imagine supposed to get 16,000.00 check? But getting a BILL for 1,500.00 Instead. Dan screwed up Really Bad to send his Ex-Wife a bill instead of paying her Alimony payments? Even in the Movie that 1 guy asked What took her so Long ( to Kill them)? Was that 1 guy that hung the jury from the 1st trial? Just to try to Keep his Ex happy he should've PAID HER? Especially since she held 5 jobs n bought his education too. To bad he probably Loved his $ to much n wanted to keep his New wife Happy????

Best comment ever. Nobody has a right to remain married to anybody forever. It's a decision made with the best of intentions, under prevailing conditions. People change, and in fact people never show their true selves when dating. It's unfortunate, but it's the godammn truth

How do you vindicate a person who actually admitted to walking into somebody's house without being invited while they were sleeping in bed and shooting them both doesn't matter what this woman says she's guilty of cold-blooded first degree murder and she's right where she belongs

You can't of course, but there were alot of circumstances in this case where Betty wanted payback, and payback, in her mind is what she gave her ex, and his new wife.
