I was diving into my fear. Sometimes you just dive into overthinking, and I guess I was just venting. My dear friend and collaborator Tim Anderson was in the studio with me and after I was done with my little rant, he was like, “Do you want me to read you some of the statements that you just said?” I didn’t wanna hear it. And then he said, “You said, ‘I fuck with myself more than anybody else.’” It felt so perfect for that day and I needed it so bad, and I gave it to myself.

BANKS has said she is torturing a copy of herself in this video to represent one side of what "fuck with myself" means. One can "fuck with themselves" in a sexy way, in a way that implies you love yourself more than anyone else does, or it can be interpreted as you hurt yourself more than anybody else does. She shows all sides of what that means in this video. When she's punching her clone, humiliating it with crazy lipstick, lighting it on fire, and tauntingly licking it, she is expressing how she sometimes would treat herself. We as humans are often our own worst enemies and our own worst critics. BANKS wanted to show, in a physical form, what we do to ourselves in a mental and emotional way when we self-hate and delegitimize ourselves.
