In 1978, five of his albums were on the best-selling charts simultaneously, a feat equaled only by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. He has recorded a string of Billboard hit singles and multi-platinum albums that have resulted in his being named Radio & Records number one Adult Contemporary artist and winning three straight American Music Awards for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. Several well-known entertainers have given Manilow their "stamp of approval," including Sinatra, who was quoted in the 1970s regarding Manilow, "He's next." In 1988, Bob Dylan stopped Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, "Don't stop what you're doing, man. We're all inspired by you."
As well as producing and arranging albums for other artists, such as Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick, Manilow has written songs for musicals, films, and commercials. From February 2005 to December 30, 2009, he was the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, performing hundreds of shows before ending relationship with the hotel. From March 2010, he has headlined at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. He has sold more than 80 million records worldwide
Losing Touch
Barry Manilow Lyrics

You haven't touched your scotch
You've been staring out the window
Now you're staring at your watch
And lately that's been happening to much
I think we're losing touch
Is it something I've done
It's been getting pretty quiet
There on you side of the bed
Remember when we used to talk so much
I think we're losing touch
After all the love we found together
Who had ever guessed, that we could fall
After all the things we had in common
Where they too common after all?
Won't you tell me what's wrong
I haven't got a clue
Is there something we can take for this
Or something we can do
Together you and I have had so much
There's so much to lose
And I think we're losing touch
In "Losing Touch," Barry Manilow expresses his concern about his relationship with his partner. He notices that things have been hard with them lately, and he's worried that they're losing their connection. He can tell something is wrong as his partner hasn't even touched their drink and has been staring out the window a lot lately. Their communication and intimacy has been decreasing significantly recently, which worries him.
Manilow ponders what could be causing the distance between them. He wonders if there is something he has done or something he has failed to say that may have caused this problem. The relationship that once bloomed with constant talks and open communications, now looks bleak as quietness now reigns on his partner's side of the bed. He reminisces on the good times they had before this decline in connection, and he's afraid of losing what they've built.
Overall, "Losing Touch" is a poignant and emotional song that addresses the relatable issue of losing touch with a significant other. Barry Manilow's introspective lyrics resonate deeply with anyone who has faced this challenge in a relationship.
