The lyrics of Ben Mazué's song Le coeur nous anime reflect on the ups and downs of love and relationships. The song opens with a reflection on the heart still beating even as it is "sponged" of tears. The lyrics speak of both beautiful stories that come to an end and negative ones that drag on far too long. The singer is encountering difficulty moving on from a past love and is struggling to make decisions that will have a lasting impact. The chorus returns us to the idea that we should rejoice that we still have a beating heart in spite of the emotional trauma that we carry with us. We then hear the singer reminiscing about a time when he was in a blissful state of love and felt empowered by it. The singer acknowledges that he must now rethink his entire life and that this process has caused him to lose some people in his life. He reflects on the fact that even though others might offer sympathy, he is fully aware that he is lost in the current moment.

And others, rotten ones that drag on
J'entends des gens me dire, c'est normal

D'être aussi paumé dans ta situation
To be as lost in your situation
On t'en veut pas et on le prend pas mal
We don't blame you and we don't mind
But you're lost, that's a fact
Tu prends des tas de décisions radicales
You're making lots of radical decisions
Des décisions que tu tiendras jamais
Decisions you'll never keep
Et tu vas te décevoir au final
And you'll end up disappointing yourself
Considering you're struggling to love yourself
Mais t'étais chance, ah ouais
But you were lucky, oh yeah
T'étais beau quand t'avais son amour collé
You were beautiful when you had her love
Like a shield, you knew where you were going, yeah
T'étais chaud quand t'avais son amour collé
You were on fire when you had her love
Tu savais où t'allais
You knew where you were going
But that's enough, I'm not that lost
Je dois juste tout repenser
I just have to rethink everything
Donc on m'reconnait pas
So people don't recognize me
Et là sur ma lancée
And there, on my momentum
Y'a des gens qui m'lâchent pas
There are people who won't let me go
Leurs regards inquiets
Their worried looks
J'te jure que ça m'rassure pas
I swear it doesn't reassure me
Mais j'étais choux ça ouais
But I was cute, yeah
J'étais beau quand j'avais son amour collé
I was beautiful when I had her love
Like a shield, I knew where I was going, yeah
J'étais chaud quand j'avais son amour collé
I was on fire when I had her love
Je pouvais tout plier
I could do anything
At first, it was easy to shine in her eyes
I had a song or two, I don't remember, it was easy
Some pretty quotes and fire in my body
Then she went around me and we both agreed
T'étais source, ah ouais, t'étais beau
You were the source, oh yeah, you were beautiful
Elle m'a dit, tu sais nous ça y'est, j'veux nous oublier
She said, you know what, I want to forget us
You knew where you were going, I had no idea
By staying in your shadow, I was going to disappear
Because I know of very beautiful stories
I even know some that didn't last, that didn't last long
Des pourries qui se prolongent
Rotten ones that drag on
