Fire And Ice
Benatar Pat Lyrics

I don't want to give in
I'd be playin' with fire
You forget, I've seen you work before
Take 'em straight to the top
Leave 'em cryin' for more
I've seen you burn 'em before
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice
I want to give you my love
But you'll just take a little piece of my heart
You'll just tear it apart
Movin' in for the kill tonight
You got every advantage when they put out the lights
It's not so pretty when it fades away
'Cause it's just an illusion in this passion play
I've seen you burn 'em before
Fire and ice
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice
I want to give you my love
But you'll just take a little piece of my heart
So you think you got it all figured out
You're an expert in the field, without a doubt
But I know your methods inside and out
And I won't be takin' in by fire and ice
Fire and ice
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice
I want to give you my love
But you'll just take a little piece of my heart
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice
I want to give you my love
But you'll just take a little piece of my heart
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice
You come on like a flame
Then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice
The song βFire and Iceβ by Pat Benatar is about a tumultuous relationship in which two people alternately desire and reject one another. The singer begins by admitting that she is struggling to resist her lover, who is giving her βfever tonight.β However, she knows that getting involved with him would be risky because he has hurt people in the past (βIβve seen you work before / Take βem straight to the top / Leave βem cryinβ for more / Iβve seen you burn βem beforeβ). The singer alternately likens her lover to both fire and ice, symbolizing his inconsistent behavior. He is βlike a flameβ one moment, ardently pursuing her, and then he is turning a βcold shoulderβ and pushing her away. Though the singer wants to offer him her love, she knows that he will only take βa little piece of [her] heartβ and then move on.
In the second verse, the singer confronts her lover, warning him that she sees through his charade and will not be tricked into getting hurt by him. He may think he is an βexpertβ in relationships, but the singer knows how he operates and is not going to fall for his tactics. Ultimately, the song is about the painful cycle of wanting someone who is not good for us and learning to avoid those who play with our emotions.

It doesn't get any better than this! The 80's were awesome. π

T the super 70s is number one bia little the 60s would have made it even tighter if not for the Vietnam War. The the 90s came in next and may have moved up more if they hadn't killed themselves off so quickly, the 80 was too much of a rip off of the SUPER 70S
I blame video games
The 80 kids didn't put in the, blood, sweat and tears needed to become legendary but at least they had fun.

LOL

@@kenperkins7921 The 70's were a great decade for music 4 sure, but the 80's saw more than double the bands and total songs released. Don't get me wrong, the 70's were a great decade of music that I believe are the top 2 decades in music history. π
