Ad A Dglgmut
Between the Buried and Me Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I thought it was strange when all this shot into my mind driving.
It's weird how this enclosed space makes me think so clearly...so free!
I wish
all hours were so relaxing.
Thinking of the next noise... making up the
next noise. Scream loud, loud, loud, loud. Static intoxication, sing
this lovely violin song. Beat this bottle on a wall. Scream, scream,
scream. The baby cries. Record the noise. It all makes sense...we're
capable of beauty. Through sounds which make one cringe. The dogs only
hear us now. For the first time tears came to my eyes while I was
listening. Noise brings so many things...make my tingling skin freeze.
Turn me on, make me laugh, shoot the can, shut the door, pour your glass,
rape scene scream, car crash bash, black cat splat.

A silent death, a silent scream...You can't follow me, you sing along to
nothing.

Overall Meaning

The song "Ad A Dglgmut" by Between the Buried and Me starts with the singer confessing that they found it strange when something suddenly popped into their minds while driving. They then reflect on the fact that the enclosed space of the car seems to make them think more clearly and creatively than they do in other environments. The singer wishes that all hours could be as relaxing and conducive to their creativity as this moment in the car. They then go on to describe their creative process and the different kinds of noises that inspire them, from screaming and static to the sound of a baby crying.

The lyrics then take a turn towards darker subject matter as the singer talks about recording sounds that would normally make one cringe, such as a woman screaming during a rape scene or the sound of a car crash. Despite the dark themes present in these sounds, the singer reflects on the fact that they are capable of creating beauty through the manipulation of sound. They then end the song by proclaiming that they are moving on and that nobody can follow them.

Overall, the song seems to be about the creative process, particularly how strange and unexpected things can inspire creativity. The song also touches on the idea that beauty can come from unexpected or even ugly sources. However, the darker themes present in the song also suggest that creativity is not always a positive or healthy force.

@Xxlibra1018xX

Didn't see them here, but saw them at the diamond ballroom in okc a few years ago with contortionist and animals. Best show I ever went to. I still get nostalgia feels from watchin these. Great shit.

@theshevanel

austin stowe Yeah at the old venue before it got torn down. It was my second show ever (first was Through the Eyes of the Dead, Haste the Day, All That Remains, and As I Lay Dying also at Rocketown). It was such an amazing experience! Seen them 7 or 8 times since then. If I remember correctly, BTBAM hasn’t played Rocketown since Colors Live.
