I'll Be Home for Christmas
Bing Crosby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree

Christmas Eve'll find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree

Christmas Eve'll find me
Where the love light gleams

I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

Overall Meaning

The song's opening lines, "I'll be home for Christmas, you can plan on me" encapsulate the song's essence, a promise to come home for the holidays.

This makes my eyes cloudy with a chance of rain… I think of my family. They come home for Christmas, but now it’s only in my dreams.😊

@crystalluna44

@@Wrest2165I am pretty sure when I listened to it every year with my family I didn't have eggnog.

@TheGuardOfMagog

... Ashley ... it was "You can count on me" ALWAYS! ... The Mandela Effect changed it! Holy Sh*t!

@Riley_Mundt

Your inability to remember the actual lyrics does not constitute evidence that someone changed the lyrics. The original 1943 recording, which has a copy held within the Library of Congress, is PLAN. Get over yourself.
