Sweet Sue
Bing Crosby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ever star above knows the one I love
Sweet Sue, just you
And the moon on high, knows the reason why
Oh, Sue, just you

No one else it seems, ever shares my dreams
Without you, dear, I don't know what I'd do
In this heart of mine, you lived all the time
Sweet Sue, just you

No one else it seems, ever shares my dreams
Without you, dear, I don't know what I do

In this heart of mine, you live all of the time
Oh, Sue just you

Every star above,
Knows the one I love:
Sweet Sue - just you!

And the moon on high, baby,
Knows the reason why:
Sweet Sue - is you!

No one else it seems,
Ever shared my dreams,
Without you dear, I don't know what I'd do.

In this heart of mine,
You live all the time,
Ooh, Sue - just you!

Markét Tudorová

Every little star above
knows the one I love
Sweet Sue, just you
And the moon up
high knows the one
I love
Sweet Sue, just you

And the moon up
high knows the reason why
Sweet Sue, it's you.

No one else it seems
ever shares my dreams
And without you
dear I don't know
what I'd do

In this heart of mine
you live all the time
Sweet Sue, just you.

My grandma used to sing the chorus of this song to me all the time, but I had no idea what the original song was. I just looked it up on her birthday today, and now I finally have it. Thank you 🙏

I usually like Bing... but in this case, no one can beat Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel.

sherinahc

🤣🤣🤣 I think of Lucy every time I hear this song!

That's what brought me here lol.

Fun fact: this tune was recorded in New York the same day Bing cut his depression-era classic "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?". Quite the juxtaposition. It was never released on 78 at the time (1932), only to see the light of day in the 1980s as part of some special compilations of this and other material of his.

Gary Giddins Bing book sez Sweet Sue first saw the light of day in ‘67

The Dark Descent

This should have been released as a 78, one of the best versions, Bing had such a sentimental voice.

Love Lennie Hayton on the piano.  What a talented guy.
