The duo was formed in 2005 when Halligan answered a Craigslist ad for a singer posted by Shahani, who had previously founded the Supreme Beings of Leisure. Their 11-track debut album, The Mating Game, was released April 4, 2006 under Quango Music Group and has been reviewed and recognized by several magazine publications, such as Urb and People. The title track was featured on a commercial for the winery, Korbel.
In summer of 2007, Bitter:Sweet released The Remix Game, featuring reworked versions of tracks from The Mating Game by renowned producers such as Thievery Corporation, Fort Knox Five, and Skeewiff. These tracks were previously available only on vinyl, or unreleased.
They are often compared to, or appeal to fans of, Zero 7, Morcheeba, Björk, Portishead, Everything But the Girl, and Serge Gainsbourg.
Recently, they have been listed on the Top 10 on the iTunes Store electronic chart and have been placed on radio station KCRW's Top 5 Most Requested CD for the week of March 20, 2006 [1].
Additionally, they have been featured on the soundtrack of The Devil Wears Prada, in Episode 2 ("I Am a Tree") of Season 3 of Grey's Anatomy, in the movies Because I Said So and Shoot 'Em Up, in a Zune advertisement, and also placed on MSN's list for "Ones to Watch" [2].

Come Along With Me
Bitter:Sweet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Come on, close your eyes, let's fall asleep
We can dream up anything
Just come along with me
We'll go to Jamaica, or the Himalayas
You can be Tarzan and I'll be Jane
We'll swing along from tree to tree, my friend
Just come along with me
We'll drink Bloody Marys and do it in a cemetery
I'm feeling strange, I'm feeling crazy
Something's come over me, dear
I'm feeling dazed, I'm feeling hazy
Something's come over me, dear
What is this place? Where are we going?
Where are those voices I hear?
I'm falling in love with you
Can't you see that?
I'm falling in love with you
Can't you see that?
What a journey, what a ride
I'll take a trip with you anytime
Oh, wherever you want to be
Just come along with me
Just come along with me, ooh
Just come along with me
In Bitter:Sweet's song "Come Along With Me," the lyrics suggest a sense of adventure and freedom. The opening line of "You want to take a trip for free" invites the listener to join in on an imaginary journey, without any financial or physical limitations. The following lines of "Come on, close your eyes, let's fall asleep. We can dream up anything" further emphasize the idea of escaping reality and entering a dream-like state where anything is possible. The imagery of traveling to exotic locations such as Jamaica and the Himalayas, swinging from trees as Tarzan and Jane, and pretending to be shipwrecked at sea, paint a picture of carefree fantasy.
The chorus of the song focuses on the feeling of falling in love. The lines of "I'm feeling strange, I'm feeling crazy. Something's come over me, dear. I'm feeling dazed, I'm feeling hazy. Something's come over me, dear" suggest that the singer's emotions are overwhelming them, potentially due to the freedom and escapism of the imaginary journey. The repetition of "I'm falling in love with you, can't you see that?" emphasizes the singer's feelings towards their companion on this journey.
Overall, "Come Along With Me" encourages the listener to embrace their imagination and seek out adventure without worrying about the constraints of reality. It also highlights the power of love, whether it be with a romantic partner or a companion on an imaginary journey.
