The duo was formed in 2005 when Halligan answered a Craigslist ad for a singer posted by Shahani, who had previously founded the Supreme Beings of Leisure. Their 11-track debut album, The Mating Game, was released April 4, 2006 under Quango Music Group and has been reviewed and recognized by several magazine publications, such as Urb and People. The title track was featured on a commercial for the winery, Korbel.

Our Remains
Bitter:Sweet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Walk away from the pain
Don't say a word
To take the beauty of
Our remains
[Chorus]
All day
(I will wait for you)
In every way
I dream about a moment with you
(I will wait for you)
Nothing to say
Just trying to find my way to you
All in a day
I realize I may not get over you
Darkness falls on the sound
Of your name
Slowly breathing in
The bible of distinction and love
Our remains
[Chorus: x2]
The lyrics of Bitter:Sweet’s song Our Remains convey an overarching theme of heartbreak and loss, and the mourning that comes after a relationship ends. The singer directs their words towards their former partner, urging them to walk away from the pain and keep silent, so as not to detract from the beauty of the love that they once shared. The chorus expresses the singer’s longing and hope for reconciliation, despite the fact that they are aware of the slim chances they have at it. They dream of a moment with their ex and confess to still waiting for them, realizing that they may never truly get over them.
The verses of the song paint a vivid picture of the pain the singer is experiencing. The “darkness” falling on the sound of their ex-partner’s name emphasizes the heavy weight that the memory of their love carries. Furthermore, the breathing in “the bible of distinction and love” indicates that they are holding on to any and all remnants of their former relationship, even though it is now over. The chorus only serves to highlight the fact that the pain of a lost love never truly goes away, and the singer may even secretly hope for something that may never come to fruition.
