Black Dawn Lyrics

A hymn to grand darkness

Behold the great death of light
Call the eclipse forth, again

"An echo of damnation
Echoing: all will burn
Echoes of embers' shivers
Echo of an (apocryphal) entity"

Behold the great darkness coming
Fear the great slaughter coming

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Black Dawn's "A Hymn to Grand Darkness" speak to the impending arrival of a dark, destructive force. The first two lines suggest the extinguishing of light and the invocation of an eclipse, both metaphors for the destruction or blocking of positive forces. The following lines express a sense of foreboding, with echoes of condemnation and reference to an "apocryphal entity" suggesting a supernatural or divine power behind the darkness. The final two lines urge the listener to behold and fear the coming destruction.

The use of biblical allusions, such as "the great death of light" and "echoes of damnation," adds to the sense of drama and impending doom in the lyrics. The repetition of the word "echo" is also significant, suggesting a haunting, endless quality to the darkness and destruction that is to come. Overall, the lyrics to "A Hymn to Grand Darkness" paint a vivid picture of a looming threat and the fear it inspires.

They released a Split with O and Enochian Crescent. I think they are still active, but they are just an Enochian Crescent and And Oceans' side project, so Black Dawn is not a priority. And I frankly think that it's a shame.
