Blonde Redhead has gradually increased in popularity in the underground music scene. Their early music has been described as emulative of Sonic Youth, but their more recent releases have begun to stray from this generalization. Kazu Makino is noted for her high, eerie voice, which hovers over melodic guitar riffs and rhythmic drum beats.
The large span of time between Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons and Misery is a Butterfly is attributed to Makino's recovery time after being trampled by a horse. Much of Misery Is A Butterfly's imagery and illustration is equestrian or reflective of the accident. In the liner notes, Makino thanks her doctors "and her friends who fed her and cheered her up when she couldn't do much on her own."
The band's 7th album is called "23" and was released in April 2007.
Their 8th album, "Penny Sparkle" was released in September 14, 2010.

Kazuality
Blonde Redhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
One time one two slow
Kid and kiss one line
Get ahead get inside
I was wrong yes or no
King of skills rubber man
Kazuality
One shout one down slow
Dance to the host with ambition
Learn to learn open wide
When we meet when we please
Get attacked get inside
Kazuality
One down one crown
No shame like a fire
Timeless fire
That burns
Me to you, you to me
Old love new idea
The lyrics of Blonde Redhead's "Kazuality" convey a sense of desire and urgency through a mix of cryptic phrases and direct statements. The opening lines, "I want you too shy / One time one two slow / Kid and kiss one line / Get ahead get inside," suggest a desire for physical closeness and intimacy, but also a frustration with the other person's shyness or hesitation. The line "King of skills rubber man" suggests a sense of mastery, perhaps related to sexual prowess or manipulation.
The chorus, "Kazuality," is a play on words that combines "casualty" and "quality." It could be interpreted as a desire to have a passionate encounter that is both reckless and meaningful. The second verse continues in this vein, with lines like "When we meet when we please / Get attacked get inside" suggesting a kind of reckless abandon or pursuit.
The final lines of the song, "One down one crown / No shame like a fire / Timeless fire / That burns / Me to you, you to me / Old love new idea," suggest a timeless and fiery passion that burns between two people. The final phrase, "old love new idea," could indicate a sense of renewal or reinvention in a long-standing relationship.
