Little by Little
Blue Foundation Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Caught in holes, sorting the souls like the Sphinx and the riddle
Your invisible ripples surround me little by little
He's my only saviour
Living in a stateless zone
Searching for an answer
Everywhere he goes
Widening circles, the surface a living, physical mirror
Connecting fire with the fever, reflecting, I'm a believer
Let the whispers enfold you, pull you nearer and nearer
Little by little
He's my only saviour
Standing in a stateless zone
Waiting for the answer
Frozen to the bone
The lyrics to Blue Foundation’s song “Little by Little” are enigmatic and thought-provoking. The song begins by highlighting the feeling of being stuck in a hard place, with the singer walking on coals and trying to sort out the souls and riddles surrounding them. They then describe how invisible ripples surround them little by little, possibly indicating their gradual consciousness of the world around them or the gradual change that’s taking place around them.
The second part of the song mentions the singer’s search for an answer to their predicament. They are living in a stateless zone and therefore, are searching for something that will rescue and save them from their situation. As they wander, they find themselves caught in larger and larger circles, but the surface around them acts as a mirror, reflecting their innermost emotions back to them. They hear whispers that eventually lead them closer and closer to a resolution for their predicament little by little, and the song ends with mention of the singer still standing frozen, waiting for their answer, yet still renewed with hope.
In summary, the lyrics to Blue Foundation’s “Little by Little” evoke the feelings of being stuck in a hard place while searching for a way out. They use vivid imagery of circles, mirrors, whispers, and ripples to further the song’s message of the singer’s slow emergence from their difficult situation.
