Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively in character as lead vocalist "Joliet" Jake Blues and harpist/vocalist Elwood Blues, fronted the band, which was composed of well-known and respected musicians. The band made its debut as the musical guest on the April 22, 1978, episode of "Saturday Night Live".
The band then began to take on a life beyond the confines of the television screen, releasing their debut album, "Briefcase Full of Blues", in 1978, and subsequently having a Hollywood film, "The Blues Brothers" (and associated soundtrack album, "The Blues Brothers: Original Soundtrack Recording""), created around its characters in 1980.
1980 also saw the release of their second album "Made in America". It was the last recording the band would make with Belushi's "Jake Blues".
After the death of Belushi in 1982, the "Blues Brothers" have continued to perform with a rotation of guest singers and other band members. The original band reformed in 1988 for a world tour and again in 1998 for a sequel to the original film, "Blues Brothers 2000". It makes regular appearances at musical festivals worldwide.

I got everything I need, almost
But I don't got you
And you're the thing I need the most
I got a car that I bought
Won't get me far
I gotta wish on a star
I got everything I need, almost
I got everything I need, almost
But I don't got you
And you're the thing I need the most
I got friends who like me
Cause I got lots of dough
The people recognize me
Wherever I go
I don't got trouble gettin' high
But if I don't get you I believe I will die
I got everything I need, almost
I got everything I need, almost
But I don't got you
And you're the thing I need the most
I got everything I need, almost
I got everything I need, almost
I got everything I need, almost
I got everything I need, almost
But I don't got you
And you're the thing I need the most
The Blues Brothers' song "Almost" is a soulful and heartfelt ballad about a man who seems to have everything he needs except for the one thing that he desires the most, which is the love of his life. The first verse sets the tone for the entire song as the singer repeats the refrain "I got everything I need, almost" twice before adding that what he lacks is the most important thing of all, which is the love of his life.
In the second verse, the singer emphasizes the things he has that he doesn't need, such as a car that won't get him far, and instead turns his attention to the things he wishes for. The singer appeals to a higher power, wishing on a star, to get what he truly desires.
The third verse reveals that while the singer has plenty of friends and admirers, they are not what he wants. He doesn't have trouble getting high, but the thing he truly craves is the love of his life. The chorus repeats again to emphasize that everything he has is fine but without that love, it all feels incomplete.
"Almost" is a powerful song that explores the universal human experience of wanting and needing love. It also speaks to the idea that having everything doesn't guarantee happiness, and sometimes the things we lack are the most vital. The Blues Brothers deliver an emotive performance that leaves a lasting impact.

That was awesome! Love Tom Scott's solos. Do you have the one where they play "Jailhouse Rock" from this same show?
