During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

Bob Marley & The Wailers Lyrics

Make you wanna move your dancing feet now
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know ya, can you understand
When the morning gather the rainbow, yeah, yeah
Want you to know I'm a rainbow too
To the rescue, here I am
Can you, can you, can you understand
The sun is shining, the weather is sweet now
Make you wanna move your dancing feet, yeah
Oh, to the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can
Here I stand, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Can you understand me now, baby
Do you believe me?
In Bob Marley's song Sun Is Shining, the lyrics describe the feeling of joy that comes with a beautiful day. The sun is shining and the weather is sweet, which makes you want to move your dancing feet. The singer is there to rescue the listener and wants them to know that they are a rainbow just like the gathering morning rainbow. The message throughout the song is about love, unity, and being true to oneself.
The opening lyrics, "Sun is shining, the weather is sweet/Makes you want to move your dancing feet," have been used in various media and advertisements, including a 2002 Coca-Cola commercial and the opening scene of the 2018 film, Hotel Artemis. The song was also used in the 1972 film, The Harder They Come, which is credited with popularizing reggae outside of Jamaica.
The lyrics "To the rescue, here I am" are thought to be referencing Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican political leader and black nationalist who Marley admired. Garvey preached self-reliance and unity among black people, which is a theme that is echoed in the song.
The line "Do you believe me?" has been interpreted in various ways by listeners. Some believe it's a call to action for the listener to believe in themselves, while others interpret it as the singer asking if their love is believed or reciprocated.
The song was first released in 1971 on the album Soul Revolution, and a remixed version was released in 1978 on the album Kaya. The remix features a slower tempo and additional instrumentation, including a prominent bassline.
Despite not being a commercial success when it was first released, Sun Is Shining has since become one of Marley's most famous and beloved songs. It's been covered by various artists, including Paul McCartney and Rihanna.
The song played during Bob Marley's funeral on May 21, 1981, at the National Arena in Kingston, Jamaica.
Sun Is Shining has been sampled and remixed by numerous artists over the years, including DJ Antoine and Funkstar De Luxe, whose remix reached number one in various European charts in 1999.
The song was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV on the in-game radio station, Massive B.
The chords for Sun Is Shining are G, C, and D, but the specific strumming pattern may vary depending on the interpretation.
Overall, Sun Is Shining is a joyful and uplifting song that celebrates the beauty of life and love. It's a testament to Bob Marley's legacy as a musician and an icon of reggae music.
