During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

Ten Commandments Of Love
Bob Marley & The Wailers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Thou shalt never love another
And stand by me all the while
Take happiness with the heartache
And go through love wearing a smile
Oh, how happy we will be if we keep the ten commandments of love
Oh love
Thou shalt always have faith in me
In everything I say and do
Love with all your heart and soul
Until our life on earth is through
Oh how happy we will be if we keep the ten commandments of love
Love, oh sweet love
It's oh, oh so grand
You will find since the beginning of time
It has proved throughout all the land
So come to me when I am lonely
Kiss me when you hold me tight
Treat me sweet and gentle
When we say good night
Oh, how happy we will be if we keep the ten commandments of love
Oh, love
Oh, how happy we will be if we keep the ten commandments of love
(spoken) The Ten Commandments of Love
In "Ten Commandments of Love," Bob Marley & The Wailers sing about the importance of abiding by the principles of love. The verses contain directives on how to maintain a loving relationship, with each line following the formula "Thou shalt" or "Thou shalt not." The lyrics assert that love is the most critical thing in life and that it is worth sacrificing for. The song encourages people to have faith in their love and remain loyal to their partner, even in difficult times. Additionally, the song celebrates the power of love and how it has stood the test of time. The lyrics are a beautiful testament to the commitment and dedication that true love requires.
The song was released in 1969 and was written by Paul Anka. The song has a classic R&B sound, and Marley's reggae influence can be heard in the rhythm and beat. The song was not considered one of Marley's most popular, but it remains a beautiful tribute to the importance of love. The song has been covered by numerous artists over the years, including Johnny Mathis and Aretha Franklin.

How many people know this song? One of my favorite from Bob and the Wailers.
@billywatson8551
This song as well as It Hurts to Be Alone helped me gain a much greater appreciation of how The Wailers had a tremendous foundation of what would become Bob's later music. Plus it helped me discover the solo offerings of Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston. Unfortunately Bunny passed away at the beginning of this month. RIP

Bob Marley loved Doo wop Doo wop never dies
@tulifuli2
Notice how Bob sung a fixed lyric of the Moonglows hit credited to M. Paul on the Early Music LP. ] Thy" was corrected to "thou." The Moonglows original Ten Commandments of Love only had nine commandments, count 'em, what an embarassment !. It ended "when we say good night" Bob sang a tenth commandment: "And always do me right," Sung here as "And always do right."
