During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

Want More 3
Bob Marley & The Wailers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do you want more? (want more)
Now you get what you want,
Do you want more? (want more)
You think it's the end,
But it's just the beginning.
You think it's the end,
Go down back-biter, down back-bite; down back-biter, down back-bite!
Down back-biter, down back-biter; down back-biter, down back-bite!
They stab you in the back
And they claim that you're not looking.
But Jah have them in the region
In the valley of decision.
They stab you in the back
And they claim that you're not looking.
But Jah have them in the region
In the valley of decision
In the valley of decision.
Go down back-biter, down back-bite, down back-biter, down back-bite!
Now you get, what you want,
Do you want more?
Now you get, what you want,
Do you want more?
Now you get, what you want,
Do you want more?
You think it's the end:
Do you want more?
Go down back-biter, down back-bite, down back-biter, down back-bite!
Go down back-biter, down back-bite, down back-biter, down back-bite!
They stab you in the back
And they claim that you're not looking.
But Jah have them in the region
In the valley of decision.
Now: what you want?
Want more? want more?
Now: what you get?
Want more? want more?
Now - now: do you want more?
You think it's the end: (think it's the end)
Do you want more? (want more) (you think it's the end)
(now: what you want?
Want more? want more?
Now: what you get?
Want more? want more?)
The lyrics of "Want More" are about the human desire for more and the never-ending cycle of wanting more even after achieving happiness or success. The opening lines of the song, "Now you get what you want, do you want more?" highlight this concept, implying that once we obtain what we desire, we immediately start yearning for something else.
The song also touches on the issue of betrayal and mistrust, with the lines "They stab you in the back and they claim that you're not looking, but Jah have them in the region in the valley of decision." This suggests that those who deceive and backbite will ultimately face the consequences of their actions, even if it is not apparent in the short term.
The repetitive chorus of "Go down back-biter, down back-bite" is a call for these people to stop their harmful behavior and face up to the consequences.
Overall, "Want More" is a reflection on the human condition of always wanting more and the importance of facing up to the consequences of our actions.
