Lullaby
Breaking Pangaea Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When we reached the car we found it wasn't there
She asked to hold my hand
I said I didn't care
Though it made her angry

That was the day we fell in love
It makes no difference today
And the money ran out so we headed home
And the house we lived in was the first she'd known

It made her angry when she realized
But it makes no difference in her eyes
I want to tell the story but I can't believe
You find the things inside you to make you see

I have traveled oceans
I have swallowed tears
I have looked for one like you for years
It makes no difference now that you are here

It makes no difference today
Would you marry me?
Would you say forever?
Take me away if it's still inside you

It makes no difference now that you are here
It makes no difference today

Overall Meaning

The song "Lullaby" by Breaking Pangaea tells the story of two people who fell in love despite the circumstances they found themselves in. The song starts with the singer and a woman reaching their car to discover that it wasn't there. The woman asks to hold his hand, but the singer doesn't want to. This causes the woman to become angry. However, this was the day they fell in love, and it didn't matter to them.

As the song progresses, we learn that the couple has run out of money and is heading home to a house that the woman had never lived in before. This fact angers her, but the singer doesn't seem to care. The song's chorus repeats that it makes no difference that they fell in love under difficult circumstances, and that they are together now.

The singer then talks about his experiences traveling and looking for someone like the woman he's with. He tells her that it doesn't matter now that she's here, and asks her to marry him and take him away if she still feels the same way.

Overall, "Lullaby" is a song about two people falling in love despite challenges and hardships. It shows that even when things seem against you, true love can still find a way.
