No Need For Introductions I
Bring Me the Horizon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

For people like you,
there is no such thing
as an early grave.
You wanted to gut my dreams
til I was empty,
and show everyone my remains.

"and after everything you put me through,
I should of fucking pissed on you"

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Bring Me The Horizon's song No Need For Introductions I speak about a toxic relationship in which one person strives to destroy the other's dreams and happiness. The first two lines emphasize the idea that some people are just not meant to die early or unexpectedly. This could be interpreted as a challenge to the toxic person who wants to bring harm to the other. The next line speaks about how the toxic person wanted to completely dismantle and deplete the other's dreams and live to see them become nothing. The line "and show everyone my remains" could mean the toxic person would have liked to celebrate this victory—witnessing the unhappiness of the other person.

The second part of the lyrics reveal a change in attitude by stating, "and after everything you put me through, I should've f*cking pissed on you." This shift in attitude suggests that the other person has decided to take control and break away from the 'no such thing as an early grave' mindset. The use of the word 'f*cking' shows anger towards the toxic person and signifies that they will not be able to control them any longer. By taking the decision to move on, the second person is taking back their power and is no longer willing to tolerate the previous behavior.

Interestingly, the use of 'No Need For Introduction' series throughout the album is the start of an ongoing joke that will appear in many of the band's songs. At later shows, the band would use this as an opening, despite the fact that there were so many 'no need for introduction' sets.

The song title is a clear reference to Pantera's song "No Introduction, Necessary"

This song is one of two instrumentals on the band's album, Count Your Blessings.

They performed the song live only once for their Count Your Blessings 10th Anniversary show at the Underworld in Camden, London on October 28th, 2016.

It is the lowest streamed song off the album Count Your Blessings on Spotify with just over 1.07 Million streams.

The album artwork for "Count Your Blessings" contains a shirt design bearing the title of "No Need For Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You on the Backs of Toilet Doors."

The song's working title was "Pessimist."

The song was written by guitarist, Lee Malia.

Bring Me the Horizon intermittently used a parody of Beethoven's "FĂŒr Elise" melody throughout the "Count Your Blessings" album.

The song was recorded in Sheffield, England at Sleepwalker Studios.

Chords: There are no standard chords for this song, as it is an instrumental piece. However, some guitar parts played include G, D, A, F#, B, and E.

Line by Line Meaning

For people like you, there is no such thing as an early grave.
You, the toxic person, have a tendency to cause harm and destruction. You don't care about the consequences of your actions.

You wanted to gut my dreams til I was empty, and show everyone my remains.
Rather than supporting me and helping me achieve my goals, you sought to destroy them completely. You aimed to make a spectacle of my failure and pain.

"and after everything you put me through, I should of fucking pissed on you"
After experiencing the torment you inflicted upon me, I should have retaliated and caused you equal pain in return. However, I chose to rise above your negativity instead.
