In 1973, Springsteen released his first two albums, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle, neither of which earned him a large audience. He changed his style and reached worldwide popularity with Born to Run in 1975. It was followed by Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978) and The River (1980), which topped the US Billboard 200 chart. After the solo recording, Nebraska (1982), he reunited with the E Street Band for Born in the U.S.A. (1984), his most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums of all time. Seven of its singles reached the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100, including the title track. Springsteen recorded his next three albums, Tunnel of Love (1987), Human Touch (1992), and Lucky Town (1992) using mostly session musicians. He reassembled the E Street Band for 1995's Greatest Hits, then recorded the sparse acoustic The Ghost of Tom Joad, followed by the EP Blood Brothers (1996), his last release of the decade.
Springsteen dedicated his 2002 album The Rising to the victims of the September 11 attacks. He released two more folk albums, Devils & Dust (2005) and We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions (2006), followed by two more albums with the E Street Band: Magic (2007) and Working on a Dream (2009). The next two, Wrecking Ball (2012) and High Hopes (2014), topped album charts worldwide. His latest releases include the solo Western Stars (2019), the E Street Band-featuring Letter to You (2020) and a solo cover album Only the Strong Survive (2022). When Letter to You went to No.2 in the US, Springsteen became the first artist to score a Top Five hit across six consecutive decades.
Among the album era's prominent acts, Springsteen has sold more than 140 million records worldwide and more than 71 million in the United States, making him one of the world's best-selling music artists. He has earned numerous awards for his work, including 20 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, an Academy Award, and a Special Tony Award (for Springsteen on Broadway). Springsteen was inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2009, named MusiCares person of the year in 2013, and awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2016. He ranked 23rd on Rolling Stone's list of the Greatest Artists of All Time, which described him as being "the embodiment of rock & roll".

This Land Is Your Land
Bruce Springsteen Lyrics

I saw above me the endless sky
I saw below me the golden valley
This land was made for you and me
I've roamed and rambled and followed my footsteps
Through the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was calling
This land is your land
This land is my land
From California
To the New York island
From the Redwood Forest
To the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me
Well the sun came shining and I was strolling
Through wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling
And a voice was sounding
As the fog was lifting
Saying this land was made for you and me
This land is your land
This land is my land
From California
To the New York island
From the Redwood Forest
To the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me
The song "This Land Is Your Land" by Bruce Springsteen is a rendition of Woody Guthrie's original version, which was written as a response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America." Springsteen's version carries the same message of unity, inclusion, and ownership of the land. The song is a reflection on the country's natural beauty and vastness, as well as the diversity of the people who inhabit it.
The first stanza talks about the singer's journey on a highway with an endless sky above and a golden valley below. The imagery is meant to evoke the sense of freedom and vastness of the natural landscape of the United States. The singer recognizes that this land is not owned by any one individual or group, but instead it was made for everyone to share and experience.
In the second stanza, the singer has roamed and rambled through the diamond deserts of the land, and all around him was a voice calling out that this land was made for him and everyone else. The message here is that the land belongs to everyone, regardless of their background or social class.
The chorus carries the same message that the land is shared by all, from California to the New York island, from the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters. The song calls for unity and solidarity, highlighting the beauty and wonder of the country's natural resources.

Well I rode that ribbon highway
I have traveled far and wide on this road
I saw above me the endless sky
I gazed upon the vast expanse of the sky
I saw below me the golden valley
I beheld the beautiful, bright valley beneath me
This land was made for you and me
The land and all its beauty is available for all of us to enjoy
I've roamed and rambled and followed my footsteps
I have wandered aimlessly, retracing my own path
Through the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
I walked across the sparkling sandy deserts adorned with quartz
And all around me a voice was calling
I heard a voice from all directions
This land was made for you and me
The land belongs to all of us equally
This land is your land
The land belongs to you, just as it does to me
This land is my land
Just as the land belongs to you, it is also mine
From California
From the state of California
To the New York island
To the island of New York
From the Redwood Forest
From the forest of giant redwood trees
To the Gulf Stream waters
To the waters of the Gulf Stream
This land was made for you and me
The land was created for all of us to share and enjoy
Well the sun came shining and I was strolling
The sun was shining and I was out for a leisurely walk
Through wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling
I walked through fields of swaying wheat and dusty clouds
And a voice was sounding
I heard a voice in the distance
As the fog was lifting
The mist was disappearing
Saying this land was made for you and me
The voice spoke to affirm that the land belonged to all of us without exception

He vagado y divagado y he seguido mis pasos
Mientras estaban allí hambrientos, me quedé allí preguntando
¿Esta tierra está hecha para ti y para mí?
Nadie vivo puede detenerme
Mientras voy caminando por esa carretera de la libertad
Nadie vivo me hará volver atrás
Esta tierra fue hecha para ti y para mí

"This Land Is Your Land"
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me
As I was walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me
When the sun came shining, and I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting
This land was made for you and me
As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing"
But on the other side it didn't say nothing
That side was made for you and me
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people
By the relief office I seen my people
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking that freedom highway
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me

When he sings "through the wheat fields waving" it hits so nice. Then when he alters the rhythm in the second verse "From Californiaaa to the New York Islanddddd" is straight fire. The harmonica solo at the end always gets me. Springsteen is an American Icon.
