Think before you tweet
For my people who don't understand the lyrics let me break it down for you :
Las las E don cast
( At the end of the day what was good has gone bad : maybe a relationship or business or friendship )
Everybody go chop breakfast
( Everyone in a relationship will get their heartbroken )
I need Igbo & shayo
( Might as well smoke weed and drink )
Shayo oh, nah
( Drink )
Shayo oh, igbo-oh
( Drink and weed )
You go bow for the result oh
( The result of an act will surprise you )
Nothing to discuss oh
'Cause I dey win by default
And without any doubt oh
Omo, me, I be adult oh
(Omo means child )
I no go fit take your
I no go fit take your insult oh
Omo, mind as you dey talk oh
( Don't talk shit to me )
I put my life into my job and I know I'm in trouble
She manipulate my love oh, hmm
I no holy and I no denge pose
( I am not perfect ,I don't act like I don't commit sin ... Denge pose : was a popular Nigerian song in the mid 90s ...it's became a slang to call out fake proud people )
Like Baba Fryo
( Baba fryo was the 90s Nigerian artist who sang denge pose)
Chorus .
I dey Port Harcourt when dem kill Soboma
( Port Harcourt is a city in Nigeria ... I guess he lost a friend)
I dey try to buy motor, one Toyota Corolla
( Back then he could only buy a Toyota Corolla)
My feelings been dey swing like jangolova
( Jangilova is slang for " swing " like on a children's playground swing ... So I guess he is saying his emotions are all over the place like a mood swing , happy now sad later )
Feelings been dey swing like jangolova
Now, you crash your Ferarri for Lekki,
(Now from a Toyota Corolla to a Ferrari which he crashed and it's nothing to him compared to when he was poor, lekki is a rich neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria)
Burna
Na small thing remain, could've been all over
( He narrowly escaped death in the accident)
My feelings still dey swing like jangolova
Feelings still dey swing like
( Highs and lows ,happy now ,sad now )
Tin-tin, ti n bani kแบน juru, แบน juru
( Why can't she be patient )
Omo, why to ki n fแบน ni suuru?
( Why you say I did nothing for you )
Why you say I did nothing for you?
When, I for do anything you want me to do
Tinba ni ke juru, e juru (e juru)
( Why can't she be patient)
Omo, why to o kin fแบน ni suuru? (ni suuru)
( Why can't she be patient)
Why you say I did nothing for you?
When, I for do anything you want me to do
Maybe another time, maybe another life
You would be my wife and we'd get it right.
NOTE : I MAYBE FUCKED UP the yoruba language by translating it to why can't she be patient. If I did I apologize, let me know and I will edit it.
Stay blessed y'all.
Ojonugwa Felix Ugboja
For those struggling to grasp what heโs saying, I will attempt an explanation because the lyrics are fire as well.
As you can tell, it brilliantly samples Toni Braxtonโs 2000 hit โ wasnโt man enough.
Intro
Chant: โโE don cast, Last last
Na everybody go chop breakfast
Shayo o
Aye!
Shayo o
Igbo o (Aye!)โโ
Translation: Tragedy has happened, and we all are bound to experience some heartbreak
Verse 1
โโYou go bow for the result o
Nothing to discuss o
Cos I dey win by default
And without any doubt o
Omo me I be adult o
I no go fit take your
I no go fit take your insult o
Omo mind as you dey talk o
I put my life into my job and I know I'm in trouble
She manipulate my love o, hmmโโ
Translation: Here, he begins with a brag. Telling his competitors that they will be astonished by his results, and that the conversation about his status is over flogged โ nothing to discuss. He declares himself a winner by default and wonโt take any insult from anyone. However, despite his dedication to his craft, his heart is troubled because "she manipulated his love." (The subject of this manipulation, we assume, is Stefflon Don โ his now ex British girlfriend)
โโI no holy and I no denge pose
Like Baba Fryo
My eye o, don cry o
I need igbo and shayo (shayo)โโ
Translation: Here, he states that he is not holy or sanctimonious, and wonโt front like his feelings were not hurt, given how much he has cried. And because of this, he cannot stay sober, so he "needs Igbo and Shayo" (weed and alcohol) to get over the pain.
Verse 2
โโI dey Port Harcourt when dem kill Soboma
I dey try to buy motor, one Toyota Corolla
My feelings been dey swing like jangolova
Feelings been dey swing like jangolova
Now you crash your Ferarri for Lekki, Burna
Na small thing remain, could have been all over
My feelings still dey swing like jangolova
Feelings still dey swing likeโโ
Translation: Burna recalls another heartbreak from 2010 when a freedom fighter and militant โ Soboma George โ from his troubled but oil rich hometown was killed. He also tries to reference how poor he was at the time, given that he was only dreaming of buying a sedan Toyota Corrolla, but a couple of years on, he got himself a Ferrari 458, which he crashed in Lagos in February 2022, as if to say, no matter your achievement or lack of, your feelings are always going to be swinging like a rollercoaster (jangolova).
โโTi ti, tim ba ni ke juru, e juru
Omo why to ki n fe ni suru?
Why you say I did nothing for you
When I for do anything you want me to do
Tim ba ni ke juru, e juru (e juru)
Omo why to ki n fe ni suru? (ni suru)
Why you say I did nothing for you
When I for do anything you want me to do
Maybe another time, maybe another life
You would be my wife and we'd get it right
E don cast
Last last
Na everybody go chop breakfastโโ
โโHave to say bye bye o
Bye bye o
To the love of my life
My eye o, don cry o
I need igbo and shayo (shayo)โโ
Translation: Burna restates that he wont hold back on his feelings, and questions why his ex-lover insinuated that he didn't do anything for her when her wish was literally his command. He adds that maybe in another life, they will get it right, get married and live happily ever after but for now, he must let her go (Bye bye), still needing some weed and alcohol.
