Boucher, born June 2, 1979, is the middle child of seven daughters. The name "Butterfly" was a suggestion from a friend of the family. Her mother didn't initially like the name but kept seeing butterflies in pictures, on clothing, etc. before the birth. In later years, Butterfly's sister had a band, The Mercy Bell, in which Butterfly played bass guitar. In 2004 and 2005, Boucher toured the U.S. and Canada, opening for Sarah McLachlan and Barenaked Ladies.
Butterfly currently resides in the United States. She released her first track of the album, "I Can't Make Me," in the UK first. It did poorly. However, when she released that track along with "Another White Dash," her U.S. success was assured. While a second album is in the pipeline, there is no official date for its release.
Boucher sang David Bowie's "Changes" with Bowie on the soundtrack for Shrek 2.
Boucher sang "I'm Different" on the "For The Kids Too" CD which was released in 2004 and is currently available on iTunes.
A remix of Boucher's single, "I Can't Make Me" is featured on "Charmed: The Book Of Shadows," a soundtrack from the television show on The WB.
Boucher's songs "Life is Short" and "Never Leave Your Heart Alone" were featured on the hit show "Grey's Anatomy" during the first season. And the track "Bitter Song" was featured during season 3 of that same show.
From July 22 to Aug 6, 2008, Boucher toured with nine other artists from Tennessee as part of the Ten out of Tenn tour.

Another White Dash
Butterfly Boucher Lyrics

There is something deep and pulling leaving everything behind
Something about having everything you think you’ll ever need sitting in the seat next to you...
and I watch...
Another white dash-
another white dash-
Fly beside us....
and I watch
Another white dash-
another white dash-
another white dash -
Fly beneath us... away away.
There is Yelling of an engine a constant rattling door
There is serious- deep and mumbled-
a conversation I’m not it.
Flickering lights- shadows of trees-
makes me blink my eyes-
makes the land- appear like a really old mooooooovie
... and I watch...
Another white dash-
another white dash-
another white dash-
Fly beside us....
and I watch
Another white dash-
another white dash-
another white dash -
Fly beneath us... away away.
I got a heart fuels, of rubberbaaaaands
That keep... getting... caught on...thiiiiiiiiings.
And I count
Another white dash- another white dash-
another white dash
I drift off at eighty...something!
And I count
Another white dash- another white dash-
another white dash
Out of time with the muuuusiiiiiiic!!
Another white dash-
another white dash-
another white dash-
Fly beside us....
and I watch
Another white dash-
another white dash-
another white dash -
Fly beneath us... away away.

In Butterfly Boucher's song "Another White Dash," the artist describes the feeling of leaving everything behind and embarking on a journey. She explains that there is something exciting and deep about leaving it all behind and having everything she needs in the seat next to her. As she watches the landscapes and trees go by, she becomes mesmerized by the sight of "another white dash" flying beside and beneath her.
The song goes on to describe the noises and sounds she hears on her journey, including the yelling of an engine, a constant rattling door, and a serious, deep, and mumbled conversation she is not a part of. The flickering lights and shadows of trees begin to make the land appear like a really old movie, adding to the surreal and dream-like nature of her journey.
The artist also touches on the idea of being out of sync with the music and counting the dashes as she drifts off at eighty, something that adds to the feeling of detachment from reality. Overall, the song portrays the idea of leaving everything behind to embark on a journey and the mixed emotions that come with it.
