When Will I
CANDI STATON Lyrics

All my worry is a waste of time
When will I ever learn
Letting go brings peace of mind
When will I ever see
Things have a way of working out
When will I ever be free
Free from fear,free from doubt
Oh lord I pray to you
Gimme the faith to make it through
I see a lonely sparrow fly
And I wonder when will I
When will I ever know a
Peaceful feeling in my soul
When will I understand
God loves me the way I am
Oh lord I pray to you
Give me the faith to make it through
I see a lonely sparrow fly
And I wonder when will I
When will I
These lyrics by Candi Staton in her song "When Will I" express the universal human experience of worry, doubt, and fear, and the desire to let go and find peace of mind. The repeated line "When will I ever learn" reveals the frustration of the singer with their own tendency to worry and doubt, and their desperation to find a way to break free from these feelings.
The singer acknowledges that letting go brings peace of mind, but they struggle to actually do this. They hope that they will someday have the faith to make it through and find the peace they seek. They see a lonely sparrow and wonder when they will be able to find the same peace and freedom from fear and doubt.
Through these lyrics, Candi Staton reminds us that it is human to worry and doubt, but that we can work towards letting go and finding peace. She suggests that faith may be a key to achieving this peace, but acknowledges the struggle that comes with finding that faith.
