His debut studio album, I Created Disco, was released in June 2007. Its singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls" both reached the top 10 in the UK. In 2009, he released his second studio album, Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and whose lead single, "I'm Not Alone", became his first song to top the UK Singles Chart.
In 2012, Harris rose to international prominence with the release of his third studio album, 18 Months, which topped the UK Albums Chart and became his first album to chart on the US Billboard 200, peaking at number 19. All eight of the album's singles reached the top 10 in the UK, breaking the record for the most top 10 songs from one studio album on the UK Singles Chart with eight entries, surpassing Michael Jackson's record. In 2014, he released his fourth studio album, Motion, which debuted at number two in the UK and number five in the US. In 2017, he released his fifth studio album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which reached the top two in the UK and the US and became his third consecutive number one album on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
In October 2014, Harris became the first artist to place three songs simultaneously on the top 10 of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. He also became the first UK solo artist to reach more than one billion streams on Spotify. Harris has received 18 Brit Award nominations–winning British Producer of the Year and British Single of the Year in 2019, as well as five Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Music Video in 2013. In 2013 he also received a Ivor Novello Award, and was named the Top Dance/Electronic Artist at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. He appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in the United Kingdom. He topped Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid DJs for six consecutive years from 2013 to 2018 until being dethroned by The Chainsmokers in 2019.

At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking
Come in to my house
You're invited into my house
Entering the back of my house
Welcoming you into my house
Come in to my house
You're invited into my house
Entering the back of my house
Welcoming you into my house
I've invited loads to my house
Loads of people come to my house
They take stuff inside of my house
And smoke stuff outside of my house
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking
I've seen them before
Lots of people at my front door
Lots of people in my front door
Trying to get into my house
I've seen them before
Lots of people in my front door
Lots of people at my front door
Trying to get into my house
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking
We're merrymaking
All the stuff that you've been taking
All the stuff that I've been taking
All the stuff that we've been taking
We're merrymaking
All the stuff that we've been taking
All the stuff that I've been taking
All the stuff that you've been taking
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking, drug taking
At my place baby, at my place
Merrymaking
Merrymaking
The song "Merry Making" by Calvin Harris is about a party, where the host is inviting people to come to his house and enjoy themselves. The lyrics suggest that both drinking and drug-taking will be taking place during the party. The host tells the listener that they are invited to his home, specifically the back entrance, and promises that they will have a good time. The party is so popular that the host has seen many people at his front door trying to get in.
The chorus repeats the phrase "merry making, drug taking" several times, emphasizing the idea that the party is for people who want to have a good time and engage in dangerous behavior. The verses support this idea, with lines like "They take stuff inside of my house and smoke stuff outside of my house." The song does not have a clear message about the consequences of drug use or party culture, but instead seems to celebrate these activities.
In summary, "Merry Making" is a song that depicts a wild party where both drinking and drug use are taking place. The host invites the listener to come to his house and join in the festivities, emphasizing the idea of "merrymaking" and the use of drugs as a means of enhancing the experience.

what about Ready for the Weekend?
Aurva Roy
Isn't that true with other artists, not just Calvin Harris?
David Mitchell
@Aurva Roy nah - totally subjective tbh - for eg, I think some of prodigy's later albums are better than their first one, Same with Chemical Brothers, my favourite album is Further.

I think Ready for the Weekend was where he found his "balance" in what hew as trying to do.... then he went overboard
