Tenho falado d´ amores...
Das saudades e dos sonhos
Com que embalo as minhas dores...
E eu cuidei que era poesia
Todo esse louco sonhar...
Cuidei saber o que é vida
Eram fantasmas que a noite
Trouxe, e o dia levou...
À luz da estranha alvorada
Hoje minha alma acordou!
Esquece aqueles cantos...
Só agora sei falar!
Perdoa-me esses delírios...
Só agora soube amar
These lyrics are from the song "Maria" by Camané. The song talks about the experiences of a person who has been singing about hope, love, longing, and dreams to ease their pain. They have been dreaming and believing that it was all poetry and that they understood what life is all about because they could dream. However, they now realize that those were just ghosts that came at night and disappeared during the daybreak. At present, they have awakened to the reality of life, and they urge Maria to forget their past songs filled with delusions because only now have they truly understood what it means to love.
The song shows a transformation in the singer's emotions and understanding of life. The lyrics convey that the singer was previously caught up in a world of illusions, which they now realize were impractical. They were singing about ideals that they believed to be true but weren't aware of the reality of life. The strange dawn has awakened them to the chaotic and unpredictable nature of human existence. The singer recognizes that they were naive but have now grown and understood that love is more profound than what they thought before. They are now telling Maria to forget the past and accept the present because only now have they truly understood what it means to love.
