Candlebox was known for an explosive live show and throughout their 8 year career, they toured with such bands as Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, Rush, Henry Rollins, and Metallica. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock '94 and made repeat live performances on the David Letterman show.
They are best known for the singles "Change", "You", "Far Behind" and "Simple Lessons". "Far Behind" entered Billboard's Top 20 in July of 1993 and didn't drop off the charts until January of 1994. The videos for "Far Behind" and "You" were in seemingly perpetual rotation on MTV and became two of the most requested videos of 1993.
Drummer Scott Mercado left the band in 1997 and was replaced by former Pearl Jam member Dave Krusen. Krusen later left the band in 1999 and was replaced by Shannon Larkin of Ugly Kid Joe. Bardi Martin also left the band that year, and was replaced by Rob Reddick (formerly of Dig). The band split in year 2000.
As of 2005, singer Kevin Martin is currently recording and performing as the leader of The Hiwatts. Peter Klett is currently recording and performing as the leader of redlightmusic.
In 2006, Candlebox has reunited with their original line-up. They went on a three-month North American tour beginning on July 1st of the same year. This marks their first collaboration since 1996.
In 2008, Candlebox released their fourth studio album called "Into the sun". This meant their return since 1998's Happy Pills. Also, they released a Live album called "Alive in Seattle" which includes tracks from all their past albums.
In 2009, Kevin Martin (along with Sean Hennesy, Candlebox's guitarist) helped form the super-group The Gracious Few with three of the members of the band LIVE. Functioning as lead singer, the band went on to release a self-titled album which accompanied an extensive tour. Though LIVE has reformed with a new lead singer, more material from The Gracious Few is said to be released in the future

It's for you
Only you
It's for you
I'll never know, I'll never care, I'll never believe my people
I'll tell you what I say
I'll never lie, I'll never try, I'll never cry for you people
I'll push you, push away
As you lonely people
Keep on runnin' 'round my door
Yes, you lonely people
Keep on beggin', beg for more
And I'll cry for you, yes, I'll die for you
Pain in my heart it is real
And I'll tell you now how I feel inside
Feel in my heart, it's for you
It's for you
Only you
It's for you
I'll never try, I'll never die, I'll never push for you people
I'll tell you how I feel
I'll never lie, I'll never cry, I'll never try for you people
I'll tell you, yes, it's real
And you lonely people
Keep on passing time away
Yes, you lonely people
Keep on passing, pass away
And I'll cry for you, yes, I'll die for you
Pain in my heart it is real
And I'll tell you now how I feel inside
Feel in my heart it's for you
And I'll take everything as it comes my way
Pushin' your pain 'round my door
And I'll I cry for you as I die for you
Is this blood on my hands all for you?
You shiver and shudder, recovers your mother
You feel it take control
All alone
Feel alive
In your soul
Come around town, steal another dime, take another line
Won't you feel it blanket your soul out of mind
Come around town, steal another dime, do another crime
Won't you get it higher and higher, all through time
Come around town, steal another dime, don't you push your drugs in my face
Yes, I feel it, feeling fine
Don't you push your drugs in my face or I'm gonna put you in your place
Fuck you, I don't want it no more
And it's mine
Said this pain in my heart, it's all mine
Yes, it's mine
All alone
Oh, I don't want it no more
I don't want it no more
I don't want it no more
I don't want it no more
And it's mine
On my own
Yes, it's mine
All alone
As I cry for you, yes, I'll die for you
Pain in my heart, it is real
And I'll take everything as it comes my way
Feel in my heart it's for you
And I'll lie for you as I die for you
Pain in my heart, it is real
And I'll tell you now how I feel inside
Fuck you, it's for you
The lyrics of Candlebox's "You" are a complex mix of emotions, reflecting the singer's love and anger towards someone. The song starts by emphasizing how the sensations the singer experiences are 'for you,' whoever the addressee might be. At the same time, he takes a dismissive tone towards other people, refusing to care about them and 'pushing them away.'
The chorus is where the intensity bursts out - the singer cries and dies for this person, bearing the pain in his heart that he feels is real. He is ready to take everything as it comes and is willing even to lie for this person, portraying a deep devotion. However, this love is mixed with frustration towards drug users; the verses describe how these 'lonely people' come and beg for more, while the singer refuses to push for them.
Towards the end of the song, the singer voices his determination not to be part of this drug scene anymore, stating that he doesn't want it no more. However, the focus remains on how the sensations he feels in his heart are for the addressee.
Overall, "You" is a mix of love and frustration. The lyrics chart the extremes of this person's influence on the singer - from complete devotion to anger over their repeated drug use. Despite the intensity of these emotions, the song suggests that the singer keeps going, experiencing everything that comes his way.
