The band's most famous songs have been renditions of the folk music classics "The Log Driver's Waltz" and "Drunken Sailor", as well as a cover of the Arrogant Worms' "The Last Saskatchewan Pirate". This song has become so popular that many fans believe, wrongly, that is of their own creation.
Someday
Captain Tractor Lyrics

I will lay me down
Someday
I'll find the sacred ground
And I will not cave in
Until that place I find
And then I'll shout it from the rooftops
Like a lunatic that's found his mind
Someday
You will see me fly
Someday
I will be the sky
And I will not cave in
Until I find my wings
Then I'll fly high above the rooftops
I won't give a damn about a thing
And if you loved me I would be alright
And if you loved me I could live through another night
Someday
I will wear you down
Someday
You'll let me hang around
And I will not cave in
Until you shout my name
Then I'll look out upon the rooftops
Like a lunatic and do the same
And if you loved me I would be alright
And if you loved me I could live through another night
And if you loved me I would be alright
And if you loved me I could live through another night
The lyrics of Captain Tractor's song Someday are about the singer's hopes and aspirations. The song is about the idea of a better tomorrow and the belief that someday things will improve. The opening lines "Someday, I will lay me down. Someday I'll find the sacred ground and I will not cave in until that place I find" suggests that the singer is tired and is searching for a place of peace, a place to rest. The singer is determined not to give up until they find that place.
The second verse "Someday, you will see me fly. Someday I will be the sky and I will not cave in until I find my wings" is about growth and potential. The singer believes that someday they will achieve greatness, and they will not back down until they do. The line "I won't give a damn about a thing" shows that the singer is confident and determined.
The final verse "Someday, I will wear you down. Someday, you'll let me hang around and I will not cave in until you shout my name" seems to be about a romantic relationship. The singer is determined to wear their love interest down, to make them fall for them. They won't give up until they hear their name shouted from a rooftop. The song ends with the repeated refrain "And if you loved me I would be alright. And if you loved me I could live through another night", which reinforces the idea that love is the key to happiness and fulfillment.

What has always impressed about this song is it reveals the musical ability of the group. It would be easy to dismiss CT as just another rollicking semi-comedic Celtic group but then you hear this song and realize, these guys are serious musicians.
