In her own words: "I write all of my music off the top of my head but I couldn't transcribe it if I tried. I am classically trained but I cheated my way through piano lessons because I have perfect pitch and play by ear."
She wrote "Everyday" specifically for Noah Kalina's YouTube video. It has gained popularity after being used in the Simpsons episode "Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind". The song was also displayed on Amnesty International's "Death to the Death Penalty" advertisement (TBWA).
Carly is one-half of the indie-punk band Slingshot Dakota.

There are three types of people in the world, those who harmonize, those who decompose, and those who stand neutral. When I hear this song it makes me think of the harmonic resonance of the universe and everything in it. I think it is quite possibly the most soothing classical song I ever heard since the Moonlight sonata. Great job, great song, by a great artist.

I discovered this song about 10 years ago, YouTube was a new thing for me and the video of the guy with pictures of himself through the years caught my attention. Then started to appreciate the calming music as well, hence I set this song as the ringtone when my mom called me. My mom passed away almost 3 years ago and I couldn't listen this song again. The piano is such an amazing instrument and the people who work it so well are truly genius. I have tried to play piano with no success probably because no of commitment or maybe no imagination. I personally listen to house and D&B but have a appreciation of other types of music. This is something I like and appreciate very much.
I have a keyboard but that just copying, I can only begin to imagine how these type of musicians make a lot of notes come alive.

It's not too late. I was self taught from like 13 to 18 and I stopped playing :( I'm 27 now but I'm going to do it again!! Biggest mistake was quitting. I played by ear too! I did try grades n just skipped to grade 6 but it took my love from it prefer by ear and composing x

Whenever I think of this song, I think of how I graduated from middle school and got my certificates for doing well and other stuff in 8th Grade. I got off my bus and take a walk looking around and thinking about how fun middle school was and elementary, including the sad moments. This song makes me want to yell at the top of my lungs, and run as fast as I can until I am exhausted. I remember one time i had to walk to and from work every single day when i was 21. I ran to and from work 3 miles there, deal with the bullcrap at work and run 3 miles back no matter what the weather, through rain or shine, through the humid days and through freezing snow. No one really understood what I went through, and I am 24 and am doing pretty good. I found this song in a different video. I played the video with headphones on and listened to it about 6 times. Then I had to bring out the wireless speaker to the piano and play along another 5 6 times. I'm a bass player that noodles on keys. but I'm getting parts of it down. I love the part in the middle where it breaks down to the low A.
