Come Into This House
Carman Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Chorus
Come into this house,
Magnify the Lord
Lift up holy hands, our
Hearts in one accord
For He's worthy, worthy
Of all our praise
Stop dissin' just listen,
Let me kick a little slang
Out
I'll tell you all about
Where we power people
Hang out
With power over demons
And anything that's
Wicked
We've trained our brains
To know Christ is the
Ticket
Look plain and simp', the
Devil's a pimp
The power of praise can
Heal your limp
You've been spurned and
Burned by a life with no
Flavor
Bust out of prison with
The risen life Saviour
Chorus
You've been used and
Abused, sold down the
River
I've got news you can
Choose, you need to be
Delivered
With Christ you win,
Without Christ you lose
But if you jam with the
Lamb, you're smooth
Amputation situation first
Cut out the jive, cut into
Church
You need a healin' touch,
A big strong hand
Come rock with the flock
With the brothers that
Jam
Chorus
He's worthy of honor
And glory
Worthy of power
And praise
Worship and bow down
Before Him

Exalt His name today
Chorus

Overall Meaning

In Carman's song "Come Into This House," the chorus invites the listener to magnify the Lord and lift up holy hands in one accord, expressing praise and worship for Him. The verses, on the other hand, provide a message of hope and deliverance, urging the listener to break free from a life that is full of sin and to come to Jesus Christ, who is the only way to salvation. The song's lyrics are rather powerful and thought-provoking, conveying the idea that the devil's ways can only bring destruction and despair, while God's ways will bring joy and peace.

The first verse of the song explains that people who live a life with Christ have power over demons and wicked things. They have trained their minds to know that Christ is the solution to everything. He is the ticket to a fulfilled life. The verse also mentions the power of praise, which can heal anything that is limp. The person singing the song is keen to help others know where they too can experience this kind of life and enjoy the fullness of Christ.

The second verse speaks of those who have been used and abused or sold down the river, meaning life has dealt with them harshly. However, the song has a positive message, and the singer offers good news that one can choose to be delivered through Christ. The bridge speaks of Christ's power, his worthiness for honor and glory, and invites everyone to bow down before Him and exalt His name.

I saw Carman 3 times in concert. It was a moving Holy Spirit experience. 1995, in San Antonio TX where we were let in by security guards by locked side doors because it was so packed! Praise God. It was an amazing concert praising God!
Saw him also in Norfolk, Va. (1994) and Clearwater FL 2012(?)
after his recovery from cancer.

I still remember that first time I heard this album. School field trip down the I-5 to San Diego and we would play this album I believe on cassette tape. I bought this album probably that very next week at the Christian bookstore in Whittier California. In the early 90s for me it was Carman, Petra, DC Talk, Crystal Lewis, and Al Denson. Talk about some great memories.

I had this album when my son was born and we found out he was real sick. I played this to death. God heard mine and my wife's prayers and healed him. Thank you Jesus for answering our prayers and Carman for your music!
