King's major success began in the 1960s when she and her first husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits, many of which have become standards, for numerous artists. She has continued writing for other artists since then. King's success as a performer in her own right did not come until the 1970s, when she sang her own songs, accompanying herself on the piano, in a series of albums and concerts. After experiencing commercial disappointment with her debut album Writer, King scored her breakthrough with the album Tapestry, which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.
King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Her record sales were estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honored. She is also a 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree.

When my baby
When my baby comes home
Now she's been gone
For such a long time
Ever since she's been gone
She been on my mind
I got a letter today
Just about noon
She said, "Don't worry
I'll be home soon"
And everyday will be like a holiday
When my baby
When my baby comes home
I'll never have to worry
About sitting by the phone
When she gets here
I'll never be alone
She said she'd get here
Sometime today
I know when she gets here
She'll never go away
And everyday will be like a holiday
When my baby
When my baby comes home
Oh, everyday will be like a holiday
When my baby
When my baby comes home
Carole King's song "Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday" is a love song filled with anticipation and joy. The central theme of the song is waiting for a loved one to return home from a long trip. The singer is filled with happiness and excitement at the mere thought of seeing their partner again. The lyrics are about how every day will be a joyous occasion once their loved one returns home.
The song conveys the emotions of yearning, missing someone, and the relief when they return. The lyrics begin with "Everyday will be like a holiday when my baby comes home." The singer is looking forward to a new beginning, a fresh start, and an end to the loneliness they've been experiencing since their partner's departure. The words "She's been gone for such a long time, ever since she's been gone, she's been on my mind" underline the singer's longing, and how much they miss their partner.
The chorus, "And everyday will be like a holiday, when my baby comes home," reflects the joy and happiness that the singer feels for their partner's return. They will no longer have to worry about being alone, waiting for the phone to ring or checking their mail for letters. They just want to spend every moment together with their loved one.
In conclusion, Carole King's "Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday" is a charming song that expresses the full range of emotions that comes with long-distance relationships, waiting for a loved one, and the joy of reunification.

Great cover. Between Carole's voice (sounding like she mean what she's saying) and the horns, I'm really, really liking this version.

I would have loved if Amy Winehouse did a cover of this as well. The Marcus King Band does a fantastic live version of this song. I could only find one video of Marcus King singing it solo but it was not his best performance despite him being very talented.

It's not her song originally. This was originally from the 60'sish. Hall & Oates recorded it five years before her.
