Anarchy Road
Carpenter Brut Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Skyless Kingdom of faceless apes
Sunless city and spineless shapes

In twenty seventy or so
Tenements on fire
Blazing through endless nights

Heavy downpours of charcoal rain
Spewing sewers and belching drains

In twenty seventy or so
Tenements on fire
Blazing through endless nights
And behind every spy hole
Car wrecks and barbwire
Dirty streets and knife fights

Ruins and leavers everywhere
Fear of a pagan world
Behind the flames and the prayers
Soulless creatures burn

In twenty seventy or so
Tenements on fire
Blazing through endless nights
And behind every spy hole
(In the navel of God)
Car wrecks and barbwire
Dirty streets and knife fights

In twenty seventy or so
(in the navel of God)
Car wrecks and barbwire

In twenty seventy or so
(in the navel of God)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Carpenter Brut's song "Anarchy Road" describe a bleak and dystopian future in the year 2070. The opening lines, "Skyless Kingdom of faceless apes, Sunless city and spineless shapes," convey a sense of despair and hopelessness. The lyrics continue to paint a picture of a decaying society, with tenements on fire and endless nights of chaos and destruction.

The imagery in the verses is vivid and intense, describing heavy downpours of charcoal rain and spewing sewers and belching drains. The chorus repeats the same lines about the burning tenements and the violence lurking behind every spy hole, car wreck, and barbwire. The bridge of the song suggests that this society is collapsing into paganism and spiritual emptiness, with soulless creatures burning in the ruins.

The lyrics of "Anarchy Road" are a warning about the dangers of unchecked consumerism, social inequality, and environmental degradation. The song suggests that if we continue to ignore these issues and prioritize material wealth over human welfare, we will end up living in a bleak and dystopian future like the one described in the lyrics.

Saw these guys last week opening for Ghost in Tulsa, OK. Never heard of them they were amazing. The drummer was a beast. Loved this song. During their set they played old grindhouse movies and horror movies behind them. Great fit with Ghost. The crowd really got into them. Im now a fan.

@mordiskitos93

Michael Antkowiak With Ghost?? Papa Emeritus's Ghost? So 2 of my all times favourite bands together? You're such a lucky one 😢

@atye04

WHAT. How did I not know this... Shit.. Should done more meth. Lol

@mechamedeamigo3984

Like im five years late, but how comes a Synthwave group ended up opening for a Metal band? Interesting.

@MightyJabroni

@@mechamedeamigo3984 I think, it is a good fit. I listen to lots of metal, but that dark synth stuff has grown on me big time. After all, music is all about resonance and evoking emotion in that regard. And on that front there are some similarities. Possibly because of the groove.

@secretlifeofky

Funny how this song is called Anarchy Road but the feeling I get listening to it is the complete opposite of Anarchy, such a calm smoothing and relaxing song. Literally feel like I'm ascending to the next realm of reality during the chorus.

@ArmyofFallenOnesOfficial

This song gives me hope to fight for life itself, It might be dark but fighting for hope it's only way we can have a normsl life.

The deep breath...
...Before the plunge.

@commanderfoxtrot

As an anarchist, I love this kind of music, and I think other anarchists would agree. So, checkmate.

@RexalQel

@@commanderfoxtrot as an anarchist I totally agree with you
