I’ll be completely honest. I have negative faith in the republic, politicians ,political parties and movements.

I love the idea of America. Not what we’ve become.

I know republicans beat on “2022 midterms it’s all going down” while inhaling tanks of copium.

Sure. Maybe it’ll go your way. But it can also not.

I think the bigger issue is this game we play. It’s simply a mad dash to seize as much political power every couple of years. Do what you want. Undo what they did. Rise and repeat. Short term sure it sounds nice. Long term it is deadly nightshade for a nation. Polarization is our own fault. When you need people divided to advance your agenda. It’s not a surprise when you wake up one day and people are at each other’s throats more divided then ever.

Politically a prefer a monarchy. The King’s interests are for the glory and prosperity of his nation. Not cheap temporary political points. A King is a King for all his people. Not just those who voted for him. He and his family are a visible symbol of the nation’s unity and stability. Power doesn’t change hands often. And when it does there is an ordered line of succession which everyone accepts. Furthermore it is a position which his successor is born raised and trained for. Not simply stumbling into power.

It has been less than 2 years and Biden regime has truly cemented this position. The fact that in less than 10 years we can go from someone highly effective running a tight ship. To someone struggling to keep his head above water with the mess he’s made.

I personally have very little optimism for 2022, 2024, etc election cycles. Don’t even particularly want to go out and vote. Why waste my time standing in line for people I don’t believe in and have 0 faith in. The only thing I can count on is progressively more pathetic political puppets. All of whom will say anything. Yet believe in nothing.

I love this country. My criticism isn’t out of malice. I want to see it become better. To be far better than it had ever been. We shouldn’t just Look back half a century and remember how things were better. We should wake up every day and think how great things are and are going to be. We can be better. We can do so much better. We’re just not which is truly disappointing.

As someone who has seen this coming for more than 20 years, I can say its not inevitable.
There are two roads that are still possible. Either both parties stop fighting each other and unilaterally start behaving better, recreating the trust necessary for a nation to work,
OR the states either secede, or redefine their relationship within the Union.

As it is, people are unlikely to be able to work together, because they do not want, and any civil war would be unable to fix the problem that is caused by inability to work together and any future government would still have to deal with this.

The only way to actually save America is for the states that are unhappy, to secede peacefully, and limit cooperation to the level both sides are willing to. This will not just allow people within the separate states to live by their own rules, but to allow people to choose where they live, in a way being a free choice of supporting the system which they prefer- This would avoid having just one either-or option, and let people choice the society they truly feel like their own. In the end, the succesful and failed states could choose their own way, either joining in the system of those who have succeeded in creating a functional nation, or to do what they can to soften their decline.

This would provide the benefit of working with clear and unrefutable facts: Any system that provides a life that people want to support and that works financially will prosper and grow, and the ones that do not will see the people change their minds and seek out better solutions. Even if they do not agree with a system, they will have to take responsibility by choosing which system to follow and its consequences.

Many tend to forget that while Gaius Julius may have walked into Rome in broad daylight with his army, he still fought his political and military opponents for years (even those whom he considered as friends before), in order to gain the military power and authority to walk into Rome unchallenged.

Civil War is going to be necessary in order for the American Caesar to take control, because he will have to remove the various powerful proponents and component figures in the old establishment, especially those holding significant "loyalty" (whether by genuine love, or by fear and violence) within the public and the system.

More so, the removal of such groups in order to prevent uprising. AKA: Slaughtering the opposing side to the point where they knock their shit off absolutely.

Ironically, its also what Hitler and Stalin did as well. Removed significant proponents and political opponents that would be capable of challenging their power and authority.

I don't welcome it. While I do welcome the obliteration of people who are deconstructing the framework and fabric of our country, I do not welcome the prospect of a tyranny in which it becomes the very thing that we had hoped to destroy in the first place... A return to liberty must come with the intensive respect of authority by those who wield its power. This is why George Washington, in his time, was so revered. He used his Executive Power sparingly, and with intent to ensure the peace, rather than to propagate war, and left the position after two terms, rather than having a lifetime position as President.

I fear an American Caesar as I do a too powerful Morally Snobbish "Christian" Republican or a Progressively Regressive Repugnant Democrat. Such dictatorships, even with the best of intentions, rarely fare well for the public at large. And often end with greater disaster or prolonged effects unforeseen until they occur. Such as Rome, post Gaius Julius assassination, becoming a permanent Dictatorship and proactively more brutal and war-mongering empire with every new Emperor that took power... All the way till its demise and splitting in the 9th Century (roughly) to East and West Roman Empires.

I would argue that this is just an evolutionary jumping off point for a better republican democratic system.

I would be best to actually look at the ancient roman tribal voting system to understand this.

I always learned that power flowed from the individual:

from the citizen to the head of household, from the head of household to the local neighborhood, from the neighborhoods to the local government, from the local government to the state, from the state to the federal.

I think what is making the tribalism is the break down of the neighborhood and head of household powers, this break in the chain prevents the appropriate collection of power and scale of resolution.

Rome in 45BC was not decadent like the US and the West in the current day. I cannot imagine young Americans or Europeans, being willing to accept that there are only two genders, let alone the harships involved in fighting a global war for empire against Russia and China. Culturally, I would expect America to trend back in a socially conservative direction. I have long suspected if Americans turned to Ceasarism that it would, at least in part, be a general reaction against cultural radicalism like we see today. Expect a lot of flag waving and pro-traditional family policies to stabilize the birth rates. Expect deviant sexual and social practices to be pushed back to the fringes of society as a matter of state policy as part of a national program to stabilize family life. Expect a return of more traditional gender roles with state sponsored incentives for young women to leave the workforce and have children. Expect freedom of speech to remain while other civil liberties are quietly curtailed. (You can complain about something, but you can't really do anything about it.)

On economics expect a lot of lip service about pro-worker and middle-class economic policies while similtaneously trying to appease the wealthy to prevent the economic classes from warring against each other. Ironically, if corruption can be kept in check, American economic power might actually grow under a Ceasar who can unilaterally enact rational economic policy and large scale infrastructure improvements. Expect more free market opportunity for small businesses and individuals, but much greater state involvement with large businesses and corporations.

In foreign policy, America will preserve the peace, but it will be on her terms....take it or leave it. Expect even more militarism and the unapologetic use of American military power to preserve the position of the American Empire in the world. There will be less diplomacy and more ultimatums and use of brute force to achieve policy goals. (For example, if there is a famine, the American Ceasar will not hestitate to just take what America needs from other countries in order to keep the population happy.)

Caesar and Napoleon were both very talented and popular military leaders, but also shrewd political operators. No one with all those characteristics has been like that in America since Ike.

And there's no guarantee that a charismatic leader would work out well. Grant knew how to play the game, and was a very popular general, but was one of the worst Presidents we had in the 19th century.

There's no surety that we would get an Ike or a Washington. We might get a Grant. Or a Taylor, or a MacArthur.

As it stands, there's no leader that has enough broad support from the people, despite the political class, either inside or out of the officer corps.

The idea that civilizations are organisms is fascinating. Like any organism, that means we can do things to keep it healthy and prolong its lifespan, as well as avoid things that would do the opposite. Everyone feels that our society is sick today, just as the Romans could in the Republic, and the Germans in Weimar. And it's interesting that the same symptoms associated with societal sickness today were present in fallen civilizations of the past. Sexual depravity, the collapse of the family, tolerance, and pretty much everything else we consider "values" in the modern world.

Yet despite these symptoms always being the same, we have people that won't acknowledge it. They acknowledge the sickness, but support worsening the symptoms, thus making it sicker. Spengler was a genius, he showed that civilizational decline is not only a sickness for the civilization itself, but a mind virus of irrationality for the population

I don't feel elections have been free, fair, and legitimate in some time now. There is far too much money in politics. When a politician who makes 100k a year and is suddenly a multi-millionaire in a few short years, it should raise some eyebrows. But it doesn't.

Parents need to consider their children as “assets” to be developed rather than liabilities. Teaching children to love truth, freedom, responsibility, neighbors, and valuing service to others. Life can be a blast when these things are key ingredients of our character. Constant introspection with an eye toward continual improvement and a humility that we actually know very little and are simply doing what works best. This is the core of what it means to “make disciples of all nations....”. It starts with us. We become our own personal “caesar”.

This is difficult when schools, friends, the MSM and social media all tell kids they know better than their parents, that they know best, that they are already perfect, and that they matter more than anyone else. It's difficult to teach kids to respect their elders and to value service over self when we only get a fraction of the time with our kids that the rest of the world gets with them.
Children much prefer the flattering lies over the humbling truth.
And kids no longer have to tolerate their parents...

I really, really, wish I could disagree with you. The rise of Caesar, and more, really, the rise of Augustus, was a huge turning point in the Roman Republic. While Julius Caesar, like any Roman aristocrat, was as much concerned with his own prestige as anything, I think he deeply cared about the state of Rome. There is no doubt that corruption and plutocratic tendencies of the Senate were destroying their system because everyone was only concerned with political gain. Even great thinkers like Cicero, whose writings I admire, were culpable in the fall of Rome. He backed a warlord, Octavian, against Antony, the consul, because he wanted to be rid of him, but then tried to cast off Octavian, only pushing to Antony and resulting in one of the worst proscriptions in the city's history, even worse than that of Sulla. Men were murdered so the triumvirs could get their hands on their wealth, not because they had done anything illegal. Then for the next 12 years, Rome was at war with itself, finally giving way to an Emperor.

The problem isn't the system, the problem is that the system isn't working as intended. In concept, a monarchy would be just as vulnerable to what's going on in the United States right now as any other form of government - this is due to the fact that the responsibilities of government have been usurped, perverted, and changed into something they're not supposed to be over the course of around a half century or more of careful change over time tactics by ideologues who want to create a new state in their own image. Sure, the methods used against a monarchy would be a bit different, but the state in that case would be equally as vulnerable to this problem - we've seen it in practice in history, most famously I think being the Russian Revolution that lead to the formation of the Soviet Union.

Make no mistake, what's going on in the United States today is no accident, it's part of a long, ongoing action over the course of multiple generations to bring down a Republic that can't be defeated in the sense of existential defeat through war. Geography alone assures this fact, as no nation on Earth has the logistics necessary to invade the United States from another continent, most likely including the United States. Weapons of Mass Destruction just make the idea of something like breaking up the US by imposing terms through warfare even more laughable. So, what do you do? You attack in a different way. You make the impossible enemy turn upon itself.

Whether you had a King or President, it wouldn't change the end result, just the tactics.

I'd imagine an American Empire would work if the Caesar would blend traditional American politics with old style Roman ones. That is: a total disbanding of the federal government and a much smaller council to govern national affairs. This would be limited to defense, foreign trade and foreign relations. Everything else, EVERYTHING else would be delegated to trusted appointed local governors and praetors to handle statewide and county/municipal affairs. These may be elected by the populace once the voting system is corrected and irresponsible, negligent or idiotic plebs are excluded from the voting bloc. Think Starship Troopers.

But the main responsibility of the Caesar himself would be to ensure that the federal government does not grow. The DOE,DOJ,DHSS, etc would all be permanently disbanded.

The Roman Empire controlled the entire Mediterranean and spanned from England to Jerusalem (which is around the same distance as from one end to the continental US to the other), and it had no trouble administrating the entire empire (even just under 2000 years ago) when there was someone competent in charge and there was a good government in place. There was only trouble when a shit emperor and government took power, but even then it was always replaced by a good one again that solved all the problems of the previous government until the end of the empire. The United States can and HAS functioned completely fine with a large government, especially during WWII and the post war era until shit policies by shit leaders caused so many problems now that next good administrations are going to have to fix whenever they take power, and the cycle will repeat again.

"Caesar" is one way of looking at it. A less pleasant way would be an Augustus, a Napoleon, an Adolf Hitler or a Josef Stalin. All democracies that stagnate and crumble lead to a brief period of violent confusion (a reign of terror, plus a reign of error), after which a strong, intolerant leader takes over. @Richard Jefferies in the past armies could just take loot from the land to pay troops, modern guerilla armies seem to need some level of support and some way of gaining financial support . Russia could easily finance any faction in America..

Caesar was from a family with political pedigree who spent his whole life building his myth. Everyone knew his name before he crossed the Rubicon. The whole point of The Gaulish Campaigns was to make certain of that. Before you can pull off the Caesar thing, you've got to be a hero in the eyes of the public, the guy on the white horse who rides in to save the day. Joe Random colonel trying to do it just looks like a power-hungry jerk. Joe Random Kardashion-esque celebrity just looks like a joke. I can't think of anyone in the country who has the reputation for competence and the public trust necessary to pull this off.

@Cass Taylor, here's the issue with that: if I don't know about them, they can't pull this off. One of the primary components of Caeserism is having a huge following both among the military and the general public, such that when they take over, they get cheered instead of booed. Somebody nobody has ever heard of doesn't have the trust necessary to do the Caesar thing. It requires a MacArthur or a Patton. There's nobody on the stage right now that can pull this off.

I'll be honest... the 2020 election with pandemic etc... made me question things that made no sense

in my state, they sent every registered voter with a direct mailing address an absentee ballot to fill out for the election, you didn't have to do it yourself

then somehow... i was given 3 absentee ballots from democrat sided orgs... i tend to lean liberal but yea that kinda pissed me off... didn't understand how that was possible or why it was done since the state legislature passed legislation to ensure ballots were sent out ahead of time with no requirements being needed by voters as long as they had an up to date registration/mailing address which was verified through mainly the dmv with vehicle registrations

I know for a fact i have no faith in the election process and have no intentions of wasting my time voting, or lending credibility to our election system by voting. I've been reading about the Republic of Venice.
They were a major economic and military power at the time. On paper, they were a republic, but really was an oligarchy.

@chucknorris202 you're completely right on all counts. My push back was only against Sulla being dictator "for life". He certainly could have been, especially considering he died not long after retirement, but he chose not to be.

@Blue Max He did only after he had killed or neutered every last one of his enemies, both personal and political. But the story of Sulla is tied heavily with his lifelong feud against Gaius Marius. And no Sulla wasnt some "elected" Dictator like Rome had indeed HAD before plenty of times esp in crises situations; Sulla was basically a rogue general that marched on Rome and gained power by his own volition and nobody elses.

He set the precedent for Caesar and all others after him to follow. Many future Emperor's after the fall of the Julio-Claudian(the family of Julius and Augustus Caesar) Emperor's, with the last one in power being Nero(and we all know how he met his end).

I feel like this is a strong mischaracterization of Caesar and his aims for Rome. He didnt destroy the Republic, he was the last person who tried to save it. What destroyed the Republic was the death of Caesar, the civil war following his death, and the ascension of Augustus.

Caesar was a populist, but he was also an institutional reformer.

Governments are all about power and control. Contrary to popular belief, they really aren't about effectively managing the State and affairs of the populace. The managing functions of government are merely a means to an end; namely, a means to get the people/organizations/businesses to give it more power. So, governments start weak and always work toward totalitarianism. The speed at which they become totalitarian depends on the environment they exist in. In some places, a government can start out totalitarian, but in most others it has to build up to it.

When you look at the rate of technological innovation, the West is in decline since the end of 50's, XX century. The dark age already started a long time ago, and you are gasping for air where there is none. Looking at parallel processes in the past (Europe-China and antiquity), the fall begins with a decline in fertility rates, and it takes 150 years on average give or take a century depending on circumstances. The lowest point is also the moment of turnaround, which leads to a peak after additional 150 years. Different states of West entered decline at different times. By using this metric the rule of thumb is that the UK is in decline since around 1850, and it reached peak degeneracy in the early XXI century. US probably did not enter the lowest point yet and it is difficult to guess when it will be because it history is too short to draw parallels, but a probable estimate would be around 50 more years of decline till the lowest point is achieved. Various western countries went through declines already several times; the entire cycle takes roughly 3 centuries. Collapses of civilization are much more common than you think and they almost never end up in total destruction like the Roman Empire collapse did; Rome was simply too ruthless in extermination of its enemies and too centralized for its own good; the moment it collapsed it left a vacuum that was not possible to fill because there wa snothing that could fill it.

You’re right about a few of your previsions but you’re missing the most important reason for the rise of an American Caesar. I call my theory Weimar America and Weimar European Union. Western nations are essentially going through the same stages as Weimar Germany on its way to the rise of the Third Reich. In Weimar Germany German communists began provoking a conflict with monarchists and social democrats immediately after their defeat in WW 1. Although the communist revolution was put down the German Communist Party and its paramilitary the Red Front Fighters League continued to threaten Germans with the loss of democracy and the right to private property. In the early 1920s the National Socialists were still very small but during the course of 2 severe depressions increased their support until they eventually took over the country. The rest is history with WW 2 and the Holocaust. Likewise, in this era radical leftists are threatening western nations with the loss of nationhood through globalization, mass legal and illegal immigration and the promotion of neurotic sexual compulsions and gender dysphoria as normal. Of course those agitators alone wouldn’t be enough to raise up a Caesar but they’re combining them with massive debt accumulation and currency expansion all designed to hyper inflate the dollar and collapse the economy. Historically, in those kinds of economic calamities social unrest turns into civil war. Not a 1860s type civil war though rather, mass rioting and fighting among the races. That’s the national climate necessary to bring a strongman to power to restore order. In the Americas those kinds of coup d’etat leaders usually come from the military class whereas, in Europe with its parliamentary systems strongman arise from the political class. So in the United States look for a Caesar to be a rogue general in the pentagon who seizes power and in Europe look for a politician. But the most important reason for the rise of Caesars if any are capable of pulling it off is to turn the US and EU against the Israelis and begin a resurgence of intense antisemitism in the world. The primary purpose of the Third Reich was to prevent the recreation of Israel and if right wing extremists rise up in this era its purpose will be the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people.

Spengler said civilizations have cycles, you can see them throughout history. History will also tell you that the average length of a successful regime is longer than 104 years. You are impatient. When Spengler said his peace America was still a virile nation with spirit and a sense of identity. You don't go from summer to winter in a day.

Besides, I'd argue the actual "good ol' America" died decades ago and was replaced with something that just kept the old face to fool the normies. Imagine a regime change that didn't want you to know there was a regime change and didn't telegraph it. How many would actually notice?

The weaponization of the American dollar is not new. It has been used relatively successfully against non-compliant nations for decades.
What is new is that a country had managed to negate that weapon and that country is Russia who has managed to continue with a relatively normal economy despite unprecedented sanctions.

I disagree that Russia's economy is fine. If you'd actually look outside cities like Moscow, it is clear Russia has taken a massive hit. It also doesn't help that China backstabbed them by refusing to work or cooperate with them.

Russia is extremely weakened by the sanctions. In fact, I don't think they can keep doing the war in Ukraine for much longer.

They thought they could do the same to Russia and Putin would back down eventually but he had the means and resources to resist. We already live as though there is a singular person in charge of the government. People are naturally drawn to that more direct governance. I would welcome this direction. I want a caesar. And I think America wants one too. A reminder that in the last of his campaigning, Trump was not greeted with cheers for "USA" or any other patriotic phrases. He was cheered on with shouts of "We love you!". That was significant.

The only force strong enough to break the American oligarchy is an alliance between monarchy and democracy, wherein one man acts as sole representative of the people's interest and seizes absolute power. This is indeed Caesarism, and is the optimistic view of the country's future. But this new regime has to be stable, permanent, and neutral. It can't take sides in the red vs blue civil war- it must allow decentralization and self-determination for the governed states, while using its power to prevent the old oligarchical institutions (academia, the press, NGOs) from exerting any influence over government policy.

Spengler‘s best treatise is ( in German) ‚Jahre der Entscheidung‘. ‚Years of Decision‘ in English, though I think it has not been translated yet. Its from 1933 but there is no NS propaganda to be found in it. On the contrary, he warned of silly optimism (he despised optimism principally, he therefore was as Un-American as you can be, oh vey) in Germany and at the core of the malaise he identified the madness of the crowd and the democratic game to corrupt the crowd ever further which with necessity f i n a l l y will corrupt everything.

The natural conclusion for democratic systems of government or even secular governments in general is degeneracy and decay due to the lack of a strong central figure to reinforce morality(a king or hero of the people) and the discarding of religion for the sake of materialism which leads to decadence, however most likely after said decay takes a point of no return a central popular figure or guardian of the people appears, this Caesarian figure then either breaks away from the central government of said decaying society through separatist movements and creates a new nation which will then grow to be greater then the previous one or the Caesarian figure grabs hold of power in his Nation state(through coup,civil war or even democratic vote) and introduces reforms which unmistakably transform said nation to a point where it’s government system differs from the previous model so much that if not for the shared culture and language of the people within that nation said nation would be unrecognizable, this reforms tend to include economic reforms, the pardoning of debts and military reforms as well as a complete reform of the government system from a democratic or oligarchic one to a more authoritarian and many times more meritocratic political system and this Caesarian figure generally makes his nation even greater then before, through either military campaigns or economic reforms which then restarts the cycle of decay, lots of civilizations didn’t get a Caesarian figure or said figure failed in their attempts to save their nation and people, the fate of these nations which just experience decay alone is to then be destroyed,partitioned and forgoten, it’s people become slaves or straight up disappear, their language and culture a footnote in history, however for superpowers such as the United States it is likely that a Caesar figure will at least appear, if it does manage to grab hold of power it will most likely drive the United States into an authoritarian meritocratic state and then maybe into an imperial level of hegemony, this would come at cost of certain freedoms that the people of the States for now enjoy…however I do believe the quality of life,government competency and overall atitude of the government towards its citizens would actually improve, the right to bear arms is also unlikely to be challenged by this Caesarian figure as it’s way too engrained into American culture to be fully challenged at this point and also because an armed and trained population would also be in the interest of a Caesarian figure as this new regime would face opposition from international and domestic democratic forces,which will then attempt to bring back the status quo which protects their country’s and factions elites place of economic supremacy, overall an American Ceasar can be both a good or bad thing depending on where you stand politically as well as where this Caesar will stand politically, however odds are this Caesar will be a right winged and competent man so in my humble opinion I’d wager the United States would be better off under this authoritarian figure.

America is way past that stage. America grew and benefited from the destruction of competitors during WW1, and WW2. Once they recovered, which took decades to achieve, America was no longer competitive in terms of quality, price, and availability. It maintains its position by printing money, and making arms, and wars. It’s unsustainable. The shift has accelerated during the recent war in Ukraine.
