They are known for their unique sound and goofy style. In 1995 they released their first CD titled "Peor es mascar lauchas, roughly translated to "anything is better than nothing at all," a pre-emptive excuse for those who did not like the album. They actively participate in community-related events, playing benefits for the Chilean National Commission of Scientific and Technological Investigation. They are also known for musical contributions to the popular Chilean children's puppet show 31 Minutos.
Chancho en Piedra has released 11 albums since their debut in 1995, gaining them widespread familiarity, not only in Latin America but internationally as well, allowing them to perform at events such as the Memphis' Beale Street Music Festival in May of 2009.

Año 2000, estaba en primero medio. Me acuerdo siempre después de clases, ir a las grandes tiendas porq en la sección música tenian unos dispositivos que eran unos tipos discman, pegados a la pared con audifonos gigantes donde uno libremente escuchaba el disco que querian vender. Me acuerdo q en ese año estaba MARCA CHANCHO de CHEP, JAPIAGÜER de LOS MOX! y varios más.. pero para mi esos 2 discos me los peleaba por escuchar. Incluso los fin de semana me pegaba piques a las grandes tiendas pa ir a escuchar los discos (en ese tiempo no tenía plata pa nada, mis viejos eran muy pobres y ni cagando me pagaban un disco). Pero siempre simpaticé más con CHEP, han sido mi banda de toda la vida en Chile, y bueno cuando escuché este tema (que cuando se popularizó mucho, perdí un poco el amor por el tema porq hubo un tiempo q me cargó) la rayé pesado junto a Mampato y El durazno y el melón. Sentía q CHEP nunca me dejaban de sorprender con sus nuevos temas. Lo único q quería era comprarme el CD, pero como era pendejo y pobre, lo único q logré fue grabar encima del cassette "Go ForChile" que nos regalaban en el liceo para aprender inglés. Hasta el día de hoy lo tengo, como varios cassette piratas de los chanchos.
Bueno esa es mi miserable historia q me hace recordar día a día esta canción. Aguante CHEP.
