I will try every day
Do my best, are you impressed?
Or are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with what I've done?
Fucked this up in front of everyone
I can change, I can change
I will try every day
Do my best, are you impressed?
Or are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with what I've done?
I'm so cold i'm the bad bitch, yo
Heart got froze don't trust those bros
Feel my love up high i'll protect the prize
No love inside my eyes
Don't trust those guys
I can change, I can change
I will try every day
Do my best, are you impressed?
Or are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with what I've done?
Fucked this up in front of everyone
I can change, I can change
I will try every day
Do my best, are you impressed?
Or are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with what I've done?
I can change, I can change
I will try every day
Do my best, are you impressed?
Or are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with forgiveness?
Are you not down with what I've done?
Sorry that my body like ice
Super hot supply, never gonna faze me
Sorry that my ice is so low
Queen bitch pro, vision so hazy
You keep on trying to break me down
But my wall stays high
It's protection like crazy
Sorry that I love you so
Gonna try to change but it's so hard, baby
And it's so hard, baby
The lyrics to Charli XCX's song "Forgiveness" delve into the themes of personal growth, self-improvement, and the struggle to be accepted for one's mistakes. The repeated phrase "I can change, I can change, I will try every day" reflects the singer's willingness to make amends and better themselves. They express a desire to be forgiven for their past actions, acknowledging that they have made mistakes and messed up in front of everyone.
The chorus poses a question to the recipient of the singer's plea for forgiveness, asking if they are not willing to accept and forgive their past behavior. The lines "Are you not down with what I've done?" and "Fucked this up in front of everyone" convey a sense of regret and vulnerability. The singer seems to be seeking validation and acceptance from the person they have wronged, questioning whether their efforts to change are enough to win back their approval.
The second verse introduces a sense of defiance and self-preservation. The singer asserts their independence with lines such as "I'm so cold, I'm the bad bitch, yo" and warns against trusting others who may not have their best interests at heart. They acknowledge the presence of love but appear guarded, with "no love inside my eyes" and caution against trusting certain individuals.
Overall, "Forgiveness" explores the complexities of personal growth, the desire for redemption, and the struggle to earn forgiveness from those we have hurt. It portrays a narrator who is trying their best to change but also acknowledges the challenges they face in the process.

This song is one of my favorites by Charli XCX--deep, dark, raw, haunting, emotional and really resonant with anyone experiencing heartbreak and rejection and really nails the place of overwhelmingly deep, dark, raw and earth shattering place of hurt, rejection and self loathing.
