He started his career with the seminal NZ band Supergroove. Shortly after he broke from the band in 1996, he released his first single ‘Chains’ a duet with DLT that went straight to #1 on the NZ Singles charts, and stayed there for 5 consecutive weeks. It went on to reach Platinum and was the landmark single that brought NZ Hip Hop to mass attention.
Che Fu has released three solo albums and one greatest hits compilation: 2b S.PACiFiC, Navigator, and Beneath The Radar and Hi-Score: The Best of Che-Fu.
Navigator is a combination of 13 tracks developed musically and lyrically by Che Fu. His love of reggae, funk, soul, rap and hip hop were his inspiration. "Fade Away" and "Random" were the first two singles released off the album, and both did well in the New Zealand charts. His album also sees him collaborate with D.J P-Money and The Villajah M.Cs.

Machine Talk
Che Fu Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
System malfunction only when you've got sick days
Ain't got the time to smell the flowers where I roll
So I'm told
9 to 5
Got to work to stay alive.
Machine talker
I'm online
Just to let you know-oh
Machine walker
Receive my video-oh
I'm online
Just to let you know-whoa
Channel surfin' just to find a window out
Mystic nature deep within just flays about
7 days I put my shoulder to the grind
'till I find
Peace of mind
Unless somebody phones me
So then me, So then you yeah
So then me, So then you
Money makes the world go 'round and 'round or so I'm told
Take your time
For your life
Is indeed a precious thing
So then me, So then you
Now I know to turn it off
Step away
So then me, So then you
Now I know to turn it off
So we can cipher, cipher
So then me, so then you
(riff out)
In Che Fu's "Machine Talk," the lyrics explore the theme of the daily grind and the impact it can have on one's life. The opening lines, "Never knew the cost of living worked without no play/System malfunction only when you've got sick days," highlight the often-overlooked balance between work and leisure. The singer bemoans the lack of time they have to "smell the flowers," suggesting a disconnect from nature and enjoyment.
The chorus's refrain, "Machine talker, receive my audio-oh/I'm online just to let you know-oh/Machine walker, receive my video-oh/I'm online just to let you know-whoa," speaks to the singer's reliance on technology and the internet to communicate with others. The use of the term "machine" denotes a sense of coldness and detachment from authentic human interaction.
The bridge, "Money makes the world go 'round and 'round or so I'm told/Take your time for your life is indeed a precious thing," encapsulates the primary message of the song. The singer suggests that while money and work are necessary, they should not fully consume one's life. "Take your time" is a reminder that life is fleeting and should not be lived solely for work purposes.
