He started his career with the seminal NZ band Supergroove. Shortly after he broke from the band in 1996, he released his first single ‘Chains’ a duet with DLT that went straight to #1 on the NZ Singles charts, and stayed there for 5 consecutive weeks. It went on to reach Platinum and was the landmark single that brought NZ Hip Hop to mass attention.
Che Fu has released three solo albums and one greatest hits compilation: 2b S.PACiFiC, Navigator, and Beneath The Radar and Hi-Score: The Best of Che-Fu.
Navigator is a combination of 13 tracks developed musically and lyrically by Che Fu. His love of reggae, funk, soul, rap and hip hop were his inspiration. "Fade Away" and "Random" were the first two singles released off the album, and both did well in the New Zealand charts. His album also sees him collaborate with D.J P-Money and The Villajah M.Cs.

True Balance
Che Fu Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Former rulers have come and gone legacy of war leads on
And she still smiles
Which is bigger mountain or man
The answer eludes so he builds
And she still smiles
{ Chorus }
Lay your words on me
Slide from the shadows a women
Lay your words lay your words on me
Smooth from the corner a woman lay your words
Lay your words on me
Slide from the shadows a women
When equal thinking is reached
Maybe then will touch the sky
Wasting time counting coin
Will surely be our demise
The animal takes shape
Ready to conquer all fear
Looking in from the side she still smiles
Sister won't you help me for my luck is running low
Some balance in my life could help me even out the flow
I tried to figure out what's wrong but still intriguing me
Uplife your name I will my sister do you believe in me
Do you believe in me till the sun rose till the moon dies yea
Do you believe in me yea till the sun rose till the moon dies yea
{ Chorus }
Smooth from the corner a woman lay your words
Lay your words on me
Slide from the shadows a women
Lay your words lay your words on me
Smooth from the corner a woman lay your words on me
Slide from the shadows a women
Lay your words lay your words on me
Smooth from the corner a woman
Lay your words lay your words on me
Slide from the shadows a women yea yea

Che Fu’s “True Balance” is a poignant commentary on the human condition, and how we still strive to find balance and meaning in a fast-paced and ever-changing world. In the first verse, the artist expresses his uncertainty about whether the historical accounts of former rulers and their legacies are accurate, in light of the ongoing conflicts and wars that continue to plague humanity. The central question of the verse is whether man or mountain is bigger, and the answer eludes us, leading us to build and create – perhaps as a way of controlling something in an uncontrollable world. Yet despite this, “she still smiles,” an enigmatic and potentially hopeful line that suggests there is beauty and joy to be found in the midst of chaos and conflict.
The chorus introduces us to the feminine energy of the song, asking for the words of a wise and powerful woman to help guide and balance us. The second verse presents a vision of a world where equal thinking has been achieved and we can soar to new heights, free from the constraints of materialism and the fear that holds us back. However, the animal-like tendencies within us continue to run rampant, and it’s only by looking at things from a different perspective – “from the side” – that we can truly appreciate the beauty and resilience around us.
The bridge brings us back to the feminine energy of the chorus, with the artist asking for his sister’s guidance and support in finding balance in his own life. He acknowledges the mystery and complexity of the world, and his own struggle to make sense of it all, but he has faith that with her help, he can overcome any obstacle. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, reinforcing the idea that the answers we seek may lie in the wisdom and guidance of strong, compassionate women.
