Officially the band started in 1991 and started playing shows in 1992. However, they only played a small number of shows at this stage and decided to concentrate their efforts on practicing. In 1993 the band started playing regularly in venues around Calgary.
In 1996 Chixdiggit! were signed to Sub Pop records. They released their first self-titled album on the record label, however they only lasted a short time on the label. The band left the label as they felt as though they didn't fit in with the record label's ideals. As stated by Mike from the band: "the people that actually had to sell our records and deal with us on a day to day basis were not quite so fond of us".
At this stage Chixdiggit was touring worldwide. They were quickly picked up by Honest Don's Records, a Fat Wreck Chords subsidiary from San Francisco.
After the release of 2000's From Scene to Shining Scene, the band took a hiatus, from which they returned in 2003 and in 2005 the band started writing and recording its fourth full length album, Pink Razors. The album was released April 19, 2005 on Fat Wreck Chords in North American and Bad Taste Records in Europe.
Founding member Mike Eggermont left the band in 2002 and started Blatant Media, a software company. In 2003, drummer Dave Alcock (owner of Sundae Sound recording studio) left the band, and was replaced by the band's original drummer, Jason Hirsch.
On October 31st, 2007, the band released a re-recording of their debut album, Chixdiggit!, on Bad Taste Records. The re-recorded album was titled Chixdiggit! II.

Times are getting them down
They asked me for advice
Thursday night is the night
I always go out
You don't gotta wait for Saturday
The party's going right now
You want to feel alright Thursday night
Well it was Thursday (Thursday) Thursday night
Well it was Thursday (Thursday) Thursday night
I feel alright, Thursday night
I get down
They were only worried about one thing
They didn't want to get fired
Those who know how to rock and roll
Can make it through a day tired
Everybody's happy at work today
A couple look a bit gone
There's a sign you know
"Run out of rope, tie a knot
And hang on" for Thursday (Thursday)
Thursday night Thursday (Thursday) Thursday night
I feel alright, Thursday night
I breakout you got you problems?
You hate life?
You want to feel alright?
Get your shoes on off the couch
It's Thursday night
I'm living for Thursday night
I'm living for Thursday night
I'm living for Thursday night
I'm living for Thursday
In "Thursday Night", Chixdiggit! talks about being able to have fun any day of the week, not just on the weekends. The song starts with the singer's friends being down and asking for advice. The solution is simple, as Thursday night is the best night to go out because the party is already happening. The chorus repeats the phrase "Thursday night" several times, emphasizing the fact that the singer is excited about going out that night.
The second verse mentions that some people at work are happy, but others are not. Some are worried about getting fired and feeling tired. However, those who know how to "rock and roll" can push through the day. The chorus repeats again, and the song ends with the singer urging the listener to get their shoes on and join him in living for Thursday night.
The song has a carefree and fun vibe to it, showcasing the idea of enjoying life and not taking everything too seriously. It's an anthem for those who want to let loose and have a good time after a long week.
