Walking in the Air
Chloe Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Walking in the air, floating the sky
Floating in the air

We're walking in the air
We're floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly

We're holding very tight
I'm riding in the midnight blue
I'm finding I can fly so high above with you

Far across the world
The villages go by like trees
The rivers and the hills
The forest and the streams

Children gaze open mouth
Taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes

We're surfing in the air
We're swimming in the frozen sky
We're drifting over icy
Mountains floating by

Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
Arousing of a mighty monster from its sleep

We're walking in the air
We're dancing in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly

This song makes me think of a fairy and a human. The human has never visited the forrest where the fairies live, as there would be heavy restrictions from different species of humanoids interacting.

The fairy, excited to see the human, takes them to see the sight of their life (pretty much the entire song). They have the time of their lives, "floating in the moonlit sky".

As the human and fairy were sorta-bonding, people would look outside in shock at the two different species, interacting, and enjoying each other's company.

Idk, it was just something that came up everytime I listened to this song.

I thought I was the only one in the world who remembered this song. It had been so many years since I'd heard it and tears just spilled out. We are all children and don't even realize.

This is my favorite rendition so far. Her voice is so perfectly fit for the composition in that it is crystal clear, with just a hint of a beautiful accent. It is easy to make out every word, and it takes you on a journey that transcends the brief window of childhood. Certain songs in life can take you back in time, and this one does just that beautifully.

There's an even good version from the singer from air a capella but I can't find it anymore.

I lost my dad Dec 12, 1996. I've waged a war against Christmas for decades. I'm finally learning to put down the sword.
