In 2008, after five solo album releases, and nine with Passion, Tomlin made the move from Texas to Atlanta to be a worship leader for Giglio’s new church, Passion City Church, with its first service being held in February of 2009. Tomlin has since released four solo worship albums, two Christmas albums, and one live album.
In 2013, Tomlin’s seventh album Burning Light debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming only the fourth album by a Christian artist to top that chart, along with Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace) by Bob Carlisle, You Light Up My Life by LeeAnn Rimes, both in 1997, and TobyMac's Eye On It in 2012.
Tomlin has recorded some of the most famous songs ever in Christian music, such as How Great Is Our God, Holy Is The Lord, Our God, and Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)
Throughout his successful career, Tomlin has won 22 GMA Dove Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, and a Grammy.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
We know, living in Your freedom
Living in Your freedom we see Your glory
We know where the Spirit of the Lord is
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
We're Yours and Yours is the kingdom
We are Yours and Yours is the kingdom
You are the fire through the night
You are the flame that burns inside
We need Your presence more than anything
More than just a song to sing
More than words and offerings
We need your presence more than anything
And You're all that we want
And You're all that we need
We know where the Spirit of Lord is
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
We know, living in Your freedom
Living in Your freedom we see Your glory
We know where the Spirit of the Lord is
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
We're Yours and Yours is the kingdom
We are Yours and Yours is the kingdom
You call us closer to Your heart
Lead us Lord to where You are
We need your presence more than anything
And You're all that we want
And You're all that we need
We know where the Spirit of Lord is
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
We know, living in Your freedom
Living in Your freedom we see Your glory
We know where the Spirit of the Lord is
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty
We're Yours and Yours is the kingdom
We are Yours and Yours is the kingdom
The lyrics to Chris Tomlin's song "Majesty of Heaven" emphasize the importance of the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives. The song begins by acknowledging where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. This freedom is the liberty that only comes from living in Christ's truth, which can be seen through the glory of God. The chorus repeats the idea that we belong to Christ and His kingdom. The lyrics express the desire for God's presence and how it is more important than any tangible offering or song. The second verse compares God to a burning flame, which symbolizes the transformational power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It's through His fire that we are drawn closer to God's heart.
The song's bridge serves as a call to action for those listening to the song. It is a prayer asking God to lead us to the place where He is, understanding that His presence comes first and everything else is secondary. The final chorus reminds listeners again where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. The song concludes with the acknowledgment that we belong to Christ's kingdom, which is powerful and self-sustaining.
