aka: Christine Van Den Haute (Pilzer is her step father's name)
Christine moved to Paris with her parents who owned a clothes store on the famous Rue de la Paix next to Cartier.
Whilst studying art, her friend, Bernard Jamet, persuaded her to audition for 'La maison de la Radio' to work on a musical program directed by José Artur, Claude Dupont and Michel Godart. As a result Christine became a cartoonist for the show 'Les Ardugos'. At the same time, her passion for drawing resulted in her contributing many illustrations for 'Mlle âge tendre, moins 20' and other magazines.
Her younger sister, Violaine released her first record, 'Cessez la guerre' ('Stop the war') in 1966. Christine also had musical ambitions. Aged 24, she started writing some songs with her friends Bernard Jamet and Pascal Danet. With the help of José Artur, who gave them free studio time they recorded a demo. The songs produced were fresh, funny and original. She was introduced to Vogue records through her sister's manager, Michel Delancray, who quickly agreed to sign her.
The first fruits of this deal was an adaptation of the English folk-song 'L'Horloge du grand-père'('Grand-dad's clock'). Two weeks later Christine toured across France supporting the famous French band: Antoine et les Problèmes. In 1967 she performed in Algeria to entertain the French troops stationed there.
Her second EP was released end of 1967, with the fabulous 'Ah-hem-ho-uh-errr' and 'Champs-Elysées'.
Despite various offers to continue in the music industry, she retired to go on a sailing trip through the Antilles with her boyfriend. On her return to Paris she went back to her first passion: drawing.
She now works as a fashion designer with a prêt-a-porter collection that goes under the name Christine Van Den Haute.
An updated cover version of her track 'Ah-hem-ho-uh-errr' has been recorded by French punk rock band The No-Talents!
