ピニャコラーダ
Clémentine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

J'm'étais dit "Faudrait pas".
J'me suis dit "Tu n'vas pas, tu n'vas pas encore parler de tout ça".
Le soleil et la mer
Les vacances et l'enfance
Tu vas nous saouler avec ton blabla.
Pourtant, c'est tentant
De se laisser aller
Pourtant, tout doucement
À la grâce de l'instant.
J'm'étais dit "parle de ci", j'me suis dit "parle de ça"
Des bouquins, d'expos ou de cinéma
Les sujets ne manquent pas
Discussions et débats
On est envahit par tout ce magma
Pourtant, c'est tentant
De se laisser aller
Pourtant, tout doucement
À la grâce de l'instant.
Au léger balancement
Sur une plage ensoleillée
Piña Colada frappé
Pourtant, c'est tentant
De se laisser aller
Pourtant, lentement
À la grâce de l'instant.
Au léger balancement
Sur une terrasse de café
Cigarettes, café serré
Pa pala papa ya
Pa pala papa ya
Pa pala papa ya
Pa pala papa ya

Pa pala papa ya
Pa pala papa ya

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Clementine's song "Piña Colada" express the temptation and desire to let go and relax, while being in a state of natural grace in the moment. The singer is conflicted at first, telling themselves "Faudrait pas", or "You shouldn't", when thinking about bringing up certain subjects of conversation. The singer doesn't want to bore others with their talk, but soon realizes that it's tempting to let go and just enjoy the pleasures of life. The sun and sea, vacations and childhood memories are all things that lead to this desire to just relax and let everything be. The singer acknowledges that there are plenty of other topics to discuss, from books to exhibitions to cinema, but ultimately it is the simplicity of taking it easy that they crave.

The repetition of "Pourtant, c'est tentant" ("Yet, it's tempting") highlights the singer's internal struggle between being reserved and letting go. The chorus describes the ideal moment of enjoying a frozen piña colada while swaying gently on a sunny beach, or sipping espresso on a café terrace. The use of onomatopoeia and repetition of "Pa pala papa ya" adds a playful quality to the song and adds to the relaxed, carefree mood. Overall, the lyrics of "Piña Colada" celebrate the beauty of life's simple pleasures and the desire to let go of stress and just be in the moment.

Advice: if your sorbet is too runny once you've blended it, then put it into a container and put it into the freezer, also before you eat your sorbet, make sure you put it in the freezer as well as it'll taste a lot lot nicer ! (You can also use honey instead of the sorbet syrup used in the video)

I made the peach basil sorbet tonight and it was so, so, so delicious! I was able to make it in my blender without any problems. Tomorrow I’m going to try the piña colada recipe. Thanks for the great video!

Hmmm. May have to try the cucumber Shorbet. The Berry one looked so good though. And Mango with Raspberries yum. Love Raspberries.
