I don't want to see my people bawl again
I don't want to see my people die again
I just want to see my people live again
I want to see my people smile again
I want to see them dance again
c change has got to come some day
Sweet sweet sweet morning sun
Rise for I and I and everyone and everything
Light up your fire and keep it burning with love
Sweet sweet sweet morning sun
Shines for I and I and everyone and everything
Keep your fire burning till the day is done
In these powerful lyrics from Clinton Fearon's song "Sweet Morning Sun," the artist expresses his desire to see a better future for his people. He begins by stating his aversion to witnessing his people engage in wars, cry, and ultimately perish. Instead, he longs to witness his people living and thriving once more. This reflects his deep empathy for the struggles and suffering they have endured.
Fearon then adds that he wants to see his people smiling and dancing again. This longing for joy and celebration showcases his belief in the transformative power of positive emotions. He acknowledges the need for change and emphasizes the urgency of bringing about that change now. He understands that a brighter future for his people can only be achieved with collective effort and a commitment to action.
The chorus emphasizes the significance of the morning sun, symbolizing hope, renewal, and illumination. Fearon implores the sun to rise not only for himself but for everyone and everything - highlighting the interconnectedness and shared responsibility among all beings. The metaphorical fire within the sun represents passion, love, and a burning desire for positive change. Fearon urges this fire to be sustained throughout the day, implying the need for continuous effort and dedication in pursuing a better world.
Overall, Fearon's lyrics convey a heartfelt plea for unity, peace, and prosperity for his people. He recognizes the challenges they face but remains optimistic about the potential for transformation. Through his evocative words, Fearon encourages listeners to actively contribute to the collective pursuit of a brighter future, marked by love and the enduring warmth of the morning sun.
