Essere liberi
Coez Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
La vedo dura, io cercavo una cura e tu non ce l'hai
Rispondi bene a chi ti chiede: "Come stai?"
Dimmelo fai presto, perché io l'ho perso, mmh
Fuori è un mondo sotto lo zero
Esco solo a camminare e ci alleniamo a stare soli
A costo d'essere liberi
So che ci credevi davvero (davvero)
Esco solo a camminare e ci alleniamo a stare soli
A costo d'essere liberi
So che ci credevi davvero (davvero)
Esco solo a camminare e ci alleniamo a stare soli
A costo d'essere liberi
So che ci credevi davvero (davvero)
Ma partiamo in cento e ritorniamo soli
Il prezzo d'essere liberi
Fuori è un mondo sotto lo zero
Esco solo a camminare e ci alleniamo a stare soli
A costo d'essere liberi
So che ci credevi davvero (davvero)
The lyrics to Coez's song Essere liberi ("Being free") speaks to the difficult and heartbreaking experience of losing someone you once cared for deeply. The first verse conveys the singer's sense of resignation as their partner walks away without a hint of remorse or hesitation. The singer had been seeking a cure for the troubles in their relationship, but their partner didn't have the answers they wanted. Though their partner puts on a good face and replies positively to inquiries about their well-being, the connection between them has never been more strained. Their relationship is falling apart, and all they can do is sway to the music of a slow dance, a symbolic gesture of their disjointed and disheartened demeanor.
The second verse shifts towards a more meditative tone, with the singer contemplating the value of being alone in the world. They reference a time when they lost track of someone they cared for, perhaps even themselves, and were left alone with nothing but a cold, empty void. They acknowledge the importance of having been able to keep yourself company during such times, and the enormity of the sacrifice that comes with feeling "free." The cost of being free is steep, the singer suggests. Their lamentations continue into the final verse, with the singer feeling helplessly adrift and wishing for a way back to a time when they could see the world with a child's eyes.
